"We can order something."
"Chinese?"
"Sounds great."
We dressed in PJ's and sat watching cheesy Netflix holiday movies while eating Kung Pao Chicken and wontons.
"You know," Honey said later, her head cradled against my chest as we lay sprawled across the couch. "I made pies."
"Pie?" I asked, perking up.
"Pies plural."
"What kind of pies?"
"Chocolate cream, pumpkin, brown butter apple, and cherry. I also have plain ice cream and whipped cream and berries if you'd prefer. I wasn't sure what you liked."
"You made me four pies?" I sat up quickly, dislodging Honey and causing her to roll off the couch and onto the floor.
"Oof," she grunted, blinking up at me for a moment before bursting into laughter. "Tristan!"
"Sorry," I reached down, helping her up. "It's just… you made me four pies?"
"I wasn't sure what you wanted. Caleb said you always turn down all the baked goods at the precinct, so I didn’t know what flavors to make."
I shook my head, "Babe, that's because those are from other women looking to hook their claws into me."
She tilted her head to one side, a teasing smile lighting her face "So, you do like my baked goods?"
"Oh, yeah."
"Including my muffin top?" She asked, pointing at her belly.
"Especially your muffin top." I bent down, pressing kisses to her belly. "But my favorite is always gonna be you in a cupcake outfit."
She giggled, as I nuzzled her neck. " And I know I'm gonna love every piece of those pies."
"How do you know?" She asked, her voice slightly breathless.
"Because I love sweet things. And if they taste anything like you, then I'll be in heaven."
She groaned, swatting me away. "That was terrible."
"Come give me some sugar," I ordered.
She obliged, leaning in for a kiss.
"Love you, Honey."
"Love you too, Sheriff."
Chapter Seven
Honey
I'd gone overboard for Christmas.
I knew this. The clinic was filled with tasteful decorations, including a new candy cane and sugar cookie scent that I couldn't help but love. At home my house looked like Santa's workshop. Little elves hid here and there, toys in various stages of construction. I'd invited my neighbors over for my annual pre-Christmas dinner – their kids had loved it.
