Zinnia chuckled. “Terror would go a long way, I think.”

A devilish smile spread over his lips. “Excellent.”

Maze smacked Beckett in the shoulder then pointed to a cluster of Unseelies. “Drop us there.” He opened a portal and Maze ran right through it.

“Tilly.” She stopped and met my eye. “Are you sure you don’t want to stay with me?”

She didn’t answer me, just ran into the portal following Maze. That answers that.

Zinnia lifted her arms and Tuck swooped in and grabbed them. She shot up off the ground and they soared over Nylore’s army. His flaming wings left a trail across the sky as he dipped and turned. Arrows, spears, and axes flew at her, yet not even one came close. Tuck dropped her down on the other side of bridge behind Nylore’s army. He landed next to her and when he opened his hands, fire shot out like a flame thrower, incinerating everything in his way.

Beckett looked at me. “Time to go.”

I opened a portal beside him, and we both jumped through and ended up at the base of the hill among the others. All hell broke loose as the Unseelies charged forward. Beckett threw out his magic and a wave of blue ran through the first line of Unseelies, throwing them back onto the bridge. Some of them soared out over the water and plunged into the depths.

I opened my hand and my magic surged within. It ran up around the Unseelies’ bodies and twisted their necks in all different directions. I dropped wave after wave of warriors, yet they all kept coming. An infinite amount of them just kept fighting. The bridge shook and the cables began to snap one after the other. Nylore lifted his sword and drew a line across the sky, opening it up.

He’s going to run again. “No, not this tim—”

My words died off as Leo along with the entire Whitmore House and half of the enchantments caste walked through the slash Nylore created. I wanted to portal next to Leo, to grab him and yank him away from Nylore. But I held fast. There had to be something wrong with him. Something I didn’t see. “Leo, no.”

One of the students from Whitmore House walked through the Unseelie ranks to the front line and grabbed an Evermore student. The Whitmore girl opened her mouth and black smoke came out, infecting all the students next to her. They breathed it in through their noses and mouths. Their heads tilted back as it went into their eyes. When the smoke cleared, they turned in unison on the Evermore students and began fighting for Nylore and his monstrous army.

“What the fuck?” I reached out and grabbed one of the spellbound kids and black smoke billowed from his mouth. I shoved him back and threw a bubble of my power over him, containing the magic he spewed. “We have to do something.”

“On it!” Nova screamed as she opened holes under all the turned students. One by one, they fell into the ground, and it closed up over them.

“You can’t kill them all!” I didn’t want to lose my friends or the students. There had to be a better way.

“No shit, Sherlock.” Another few students dropped into the ground. “Just containing them. Until we figure it out.”

It was chaos all around me. Unseelies screamed and attacked. I fired everything I could at them. I used my magic to shoot blades into their bodies. I swept my hand to the side, knocking them to the ground or off the bridge completely. Beckett stayed by my side.

“Um, ’scuse me.” Ophelia ran up to me and grabbed my hand. “Sorry about this.”

She ran the tip of her blade across the palm of my hand.

“Damn it, O.”

She held the cauldron under my hand and a few drops of my blood plopped into the potion she was working on. She spun in a circle, then took off in another direction. Cross ran past her, clearing the way by killing every Unseelie who even cast an eye on her. Black blood coated his sword and ran down his arms. There was a nasty gash across the side of his face, but he didn’t seem to notice it.

An Unseelie swung his sword toward my throat, and I ducked under it. I opened a portal under him and closed it when his body was only part of the way through, slicing it in half. Beckett moved next to me and blasted out a circle of power. Unseelies few off the bridge as two walls of water began to rise up the sides of the bridge. The water churned and twisted, reaching for the sky. Penny flew overhead and my eyes widened. “Oh, shit.”

Lightning fizzled in her hands, and I knew the next move.

“Beckett!” I pointed up.

We stood back-to-back, both of us building power in our hands. “On the count of three.”

“One… two… three!” I blasted out my power, knocking as many of them as I could into the water. Beckett did the same on the other side. Penny let her lightning go, and the water electrified from top to bottom.

“No, I’m not giving you my blood.”

My head snapped around to where Ophelia stood just in front of Liesin, pointing a dagger at his hand. “Look, it says on the potion, don’t forget the firsts, thy call them Greek. That’s you.”

An Unseelie ran right at them, but Liesin didn’t even take his eyes off Ophelia as he held up his glowing hand and shoved it on the Unseelie’s chest. “I’m telling you, I’m not doing it.”

He ripped his hand off the Unseelie and the thing collapsed to the ground. For a moment, he held a glowing orb in his palm, then smothered it by closing his fist.
