“Victor, you made it!” Noah cheers, rushing over to his side and throwing his arms around him, before ushering the handsome blond to my side. “You remember Lawson, right?”

“Hey there, Law.” Victor shoots me one of his panty-dropping smiles. Dear lord.

Someone clears their throat. Carter. “Are we gonna continue or what?”

Victor, not realizing how thankful I am that he interrupted, apologizes to the room. “Please, continue.”

Michelle looks over at me, eyes sparkling with a strange gleam. “Well, what’s it gonna be, Law?” She emphasizes the shortened version of my name that Victor just said, and I get anxious just looking at her. She definitely has something against me, and I can’t figure it out. “Truth or dare.”

I smile at Michelle, not wanting her to know she’s getting to me. Seriously, I have nothing to fear. Right? “Truth,” I say confidently.

Her whole face lights up, almost as if she hoped I wouldn’t say dare. Without hesitating, she asks the last question I would ever expect. “How many sex toys do you own?”

All the blood rushes to my face and my heart pounds so loud in my ears.

My eyes flicker over to Victor. Oh god. Why did I just look at him? He’s smiling, but when I don’t return the gesture, he quirks an eyebrow, looking concerned.

Breaking eye contact, I jerk my head away in embarrassment. I’m totally making this awkward, aren't I?

And why the hell did Michelle phrase it like that? How many sex toys do you own? Not, do you own any? Or do you know what they are? It’s almost like she already knows.

Oh fuck, she knows.

My gaze bounces to Carter, who looks smug as fuck. And why the hell does Billy look so damn guilty? When Billy’s eyes meet mine and his cheeks turn bright red, I know I’m screwed.

“Well?” Carter laughs. “Don’t bother lying.”

A memory flickers. The one—and only—time I thought about giving Carter my virginity. I’d brought him back to my room, and god I was so nervous. I knew it wasn’t the right time, and I’m pretty sure Carter knew too.

I ran to the bathroom and shut myself in there for several minutes, splashing water on my face. When I came back out, my dresser drawer was cracked open. The drawer that hides my very generous collection of toys.

I glance back at Noah, whose mouth is hanging open. “You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to,” Noah says, trying to come to my rescue. But as soon as the crowd around us boos, he winces and mouths the word ‘sorry’ to me.

Steeling myself for judgment, I let out a deep breath and straighten my spine. Looking Carter dead in the eye, I answer as confidently as I can.

Chapter 4

Victor

Something is going on here. I feel like I walked into the middle of a movie. It’s like staring at the big screen thinking I can put the pieces together, only to find out I’m completely lost.

Lawson is staring daggers at the preppy blond guy sitting on the sofa a few feet away. Something about the smug look on his face makes me think he’s an asshole. The way he told Lawson not to lie has me uneasy. I know the whole point of the game is to tell the truth, but Lawson really shouldn’t have to talk if he doesn’t want to.

Of all the times I’ve seen Law at my mother’s company, not once have I seen him look upset. He braces himself and throws his shoulders back.

Does my crush have a history with this guy, or am I reading into things too much? Or maybe I have some competition? My eyes bounce back and forth between the two attractive men.

“Well, it depends,” Law snaps. “Are you just asking about just dildos or does that include other toys, too?”

The blond guy’s bravado drops, and his mouth falls open. I bark out a laugh. Good for you, Law.

Tapping his chin in that familiar way, Lawson leans forward with all confidence. “Or are we talking about fleshlights, cock rings, and strokers?”

Michelle’s eyes widen. “Strokers?” she whispers.

“Because if those count, we might as well throw in my collection of prostate massagers.”

Rowan snickers. “Oh, those are fun,” he chimes in, and a few people around the room chuckle, including Noah.
