I bark out a laugh, realizing just how nice it feels to be silly and playful after sex. Lifting him into the air, Lawson squeals with delight. I carry him over to his bathroom, where we share a very sexy, playful shower. We soap each other with exploring hands and curious touches. We don’t rush, just take our time and linger. There’s something about my sexy little nerd and the way we just seem to fit together.
It might be too soon to even entertain this thought, but I can see myself building a future with this man.
Epilogue
Lawson
11:47 AM Tuesday Morning
“So, are you finally going to tell me what happened this weekend?” Noah asks for probably the tenth time today. We are sitting up at reception, and if I’m being honest, I’m waiting for Victor to walk through the door. My eyes catch on the paperback delivery that just arrived a few moments ago. I couldn’t wait to surprise Victor.
Noah nudges me in the ribs. “Well?”
I texted Noah a few times since the date, so he knew that Victor and I were pretty much inseparable, deciding to spend the last couple of days at my place.
Then after work yesterday, I rushed over to Victor’s apartment where he cooked me his favorite Korean fusion taco dish. I swear, the man is so talented with food, I’m half tempted to see if I can pay him to make extras of whatever he brings his mom on Tuesdays and Fridays.
I haven’t had much alone time with my friend since the party. “Wanna get dinner together tonight? I can tell you everything.”
Noah hums, waggling his eyebrows. “I don’t know… are there juicy details?”
“Well, a gentleman doesn’t kiss and tell,” I tease him. “But I can tell you all about the moment he asked me to be his boyfriend.”
He gasps, squeezing my forearm. “No way. Are you serious?”
I nod eagerly, and Noah throws his arms around me. “Oh my god, Law. Yes! You deserve to be happy.”
Pulling my friend into a deep hug. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this happy. I have a few friends, a company I love working for, and a new boyfriend. I smile to myself, lost in thought, while hugging Noah.
“Well now, should I be jealous?”
Victor approaches with his not-so-mysterious paper bag, and a wide smile on his face. He’s wearing a pair of dark jeans and a fitted white shirt that stretches over his broad shoulders. His blond hair is styled to perfection. He’s so handsome.
“Of course not.” A huge grin spreads across my face. I probably couldn’t stop it if I wanted to.
“Wow. Is this what I’m going to have to deal with every week now? You making swoony eyes at my friend here?” Noah looks at my boyfriend while he points at me.
Victor doesn’t even hesitate with his reply. “I don’t see how that’s any different from all the previous weeks I’ve been here.”
“Oh! Okay, charmer!” He says to Victor before giving me a wink. “I like him, Law. He’s good for you.”
“Don’t grab anything for lunch,” Victor says. “I made you something. Come knock on my mom’s office door in a few minutes. If you’re still ok with it, I’m going to tell her.”
My heart melts a little. I can’t believe Victor wants to tell her we’re dating. I was shocked when he admitted that his mom had encouraged him to go after me. I have to confess, it's nice getting Ella Gray’s approval. Hopefully, when Victor tells her we’re dating, she won’t change her mind.
Giving me one last smile, he heads into his mother’s office, quietly walking through her office door.
“You know,” Michelle says, making her way to the front counter. “You shouldn’t flirt with someone who’s completely out of your league.”
Noah stands, looking furious. I open my mouth to say something to this woman. I’m so sick of her childish ways. But before either of us can say anything, someone clears their throat behind us. Ella Gray is standing at her door, eyes narrowed.
“Michelle,” Ella snaps. “Would you care to tell me exactly who you think is in my son’s league?”
Michelle’s mouth drops open. “I–uh–I–”
“Right. That’s what I thought. Lawson, why don’t you join your boyfriend in my office for lunch? I’ll be there in a minute. Noah, will you watch reception for me, please?”
“Of course.” Noah nods, sitting back down and pushing his mouse around to wake up his computer.
