“Don’t be shy,” Ella says. “Try it. Victor mentioned making something with pesto for you, and I thought you might appreciate this pesto salad. It isn’t as heavy as a big pasta dish, and perfect for work.”

As soon as the flavors hit my tongue, I’m in heaven.

We eat lunch, and Ella tells me all about her love for her ‘evil spawn.’ The hilarious mother-son duo have this way of pulling deep belly laughter out of me. The three of us fall into easy-flowing conversation. The whole time we sit together, Victor keeps his thigh pressed against mine under the desk, and steals sweet glances at me when his mom isn’t looking. And every time I can’t help but grin back at my boyfriend.

I love the way he makes me smile.

Somehow, I just know that this gorgeous, kind man will be my everything, and I can’t wait to see what life dares us to do.
