She doesn’t say anything else; I brush my thumb on her arm and bring the other to her face moving the strands of hair behind her ears.

“Sleep, Princess. We can talk tomorrow,” I yawn. It doesn’t take long before sleep wins her over. Her body molds perfectly next to mine, her scent takes me back to the beach I was just in with her.

That dream that took me from my demons and brought me to my form of heaven until I slowly drift off to sleep, anchored by this beauty.

Chapter 15

Istruggle to open my eyes as the sun creeps in from the open windows. Automatically I move my hands to cover my eyes, while the other searches for the missing body that was behind me when we first fell asleep. I’m alone in Enzo’s bed, his earthy smell barely resides on the pillow under me. Lifting myself up against the headboard, I notice a glass of water and some Advil with what looks like a note underneath.

You looked too peaceful to wake you up, Princess.Drink the full glass of water and take the medicine for the headache.Meet me in the kitchen for breakfast.Rocco is outside the room.

I smile at the thoughtfulness, the fact that he takes care of me even now. Doing what’s instructed, I take the two small pills and drink the full glass of water. I put on a pair of Enzo’s sweatpants that he left by the bed before opening the door to find Rocco leaning against the wall. He doesn’t say anything, just simply turns and walks over to the main house.

As we walk inside I notice Marcelo, Enzo, Julian and Kai are all sitting at the table. It's covered with a vast variety of breakfast foods. I’m pretty sure that the cooks are not working today, or at least they never start this early. Everyone is already eating; each of them deep in conversation amongst themselves. I stay silent, hoping not to draw any unwanted attention, especially when I decide to take the chair right next to Enzo.

I slowly pull out the chair, andsit down. Lifting my fork, I grab some scrambled eggs off the serving tray onto my plate. I also make sure to grab some fruits, since I'm not sure how long we’ll be here with my brothers.

“Lina, we’re leaving today. We are going to be overseas for some time before we head to Mexico to visit father,” Marcelo says. He doesn’t even glance up at me when he talks. Grinding my teeth, I nod. Enzo must have noticed my reaction because he places his hand on my thigh rubbing small soothing circles with his thumb.

“Hermana, Enzo will be in charge. Por el amor de dios. Please listen to him. No sneaking out. If you must see that friend of yours, keep it in this house.” Julian chimes in.

“Her name is Sierra,” I say annoyed. Julian simply smirks, grabbing some grapes from his plate and gently popping them in his mouth like he’s trying to stop himself from saying more.

“My cousin will meet us at the airport as soon as we land. He will bring us to our home in Sicily,” Rocco says from behind where we all sit. Walking over he hands a piece of paper over to Marcelo before stepping back and sitting next to Kai.

“Italy? You’re going to Italy?” my voice does a little squeal as I question the location overseas.

“Hermana, we are trying to stop your wedding. We need to make friends with powerful families for their help. Marcelo is using it as an excuse and saying that you want to marry there and that he’s checking venues with you. Everyone will think you’re with us, so that you’re safe here.” Julian says.

“You make it seem like I’m not safe here now.” I contort, his eyes widened at the realization but doesn’t go into further detail.

Enzo squeezes my thigh a little forcefully, while drifting towards the waistband of the sweatpants he left for me. Slowly and discreetly, without drawing attention to either of us. I can feel my heart beating rapidly from the anticipation and the need of him touching me. I never knew it could be like this, that all you want to do is jump each other's bones. Is this why Sierra likes to go out as much as she does? He inches closer and closer to my entrance, without warning he pumps one finger and then two into my aching cunt. Everything about this is so wrong, and yet it feels exhilaratingly hot. I try to rub my thighs together to relieve some tension, but he pauses his movements to grip my thigh. I’m grateful for the cloth that covers the table. It covers my lower half perfectly but if anyone were to catch his movements, and the way my face keeps flushing, our secret tryst might become obvious.

“Father doesn’t know we are leaving. You must keep this to yourself. We are leaving most of our men to handle the territories, that way we aren’t worried about business. Enzo is providing us with a team so we have protection. Rocco is leading our trip since we are meeting his family.” Marcelo speaks, taking my attention away from the way Enzo’s hand grips my leg.

“Why doesn’t father know?”

“Because we are doing what we have to do in order to save you from this marriage and rid ourselves from the damn Columbians all together,” Marcelo announces, ending the conversation with a smack on the table. Silence takes over the room, like we’d just been scowled by a parent.

“Don’t worry about him. He’s just stressed. Don’t worry about us, we’ll be back in a week or two. Just don’t hang out with that little bruja, she’s a bad influence. We don’t need you getting into any more trouble or father will have all our heads.” Julian says. Rafa yawns walking in from the kitchen, his hands scratch his stomach, as he stretches his arms out and plops down on an empty chair at the table.

“What’d I miss?” Rafa says, looking around the table.

“Julian is telling me that Sierra is a bad influence,” I chuckle trying to make light of the very tense conversation.

Rafa’s eyes pop open as he smiles at Julian.

“He wants her bad influence alright,” he teases, wiggling his eyebrows at Julian. Leaning towards the table, he grabs as much food as he can to fill up his plate at a desperate rate.

“Fuck you,” Julian responds. I can’t help but laugh at their exchange. It’s times like this that makes it feel like we’re simply just a normal family without danger. Without the family ties to the Cartel. Just regular siblings.

“Whatever bro. You know you want her,” Rafa mumbles, taking another bite of his food.

“Anyway, Hermana. I want you to take a break from the boxing club until we get back or at least have Kai teach you to fight in the home gym." Julian begins to say.

“I can teach you,” Enzo declares, interrupting Julian. Julian’s eyes snap to his, he glares at him as though he were stabbing him silently in his head at the comment. I don’t think anyone else noticed the tension coming from them. Lightly placing my hand on Enzo’s shoulder, I force a smile hoping to break the quiet war going through both their eyes.

I’m not sure what Julian sees, as he glances back and forth between us. He stands up and leaves the room leaving a smirking Enzo stroking my thigh. Rafa continues eating his food oblivious to the tension that’s sucked up all the air from the dining room.
