Chapter Nine
“You should tell him about Roxanne,” Zoe said, sitting at the booth with Caden. “You’re a wonderful man, Caden, and Yeo is crazy about you. Hell, you’ve been together for just over a month and you’re already living with him. That should tell you something.”
“I will,” Caden said. “I’m not worried about how he’ll react. I’m just torturing him now. He keeps guessing weird things. This morning he asked me if I worked for the mafia.”
Zoe laughed. “Here I thought you were doubting yourself. That poor omega.”
“Caden,” Elijah said, sliding into the seat behind him. His belly was getting bigger and bigger each day. “I have news for you. There’s going to be an ambush this afternoon.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Ray, Ernie, and Juan talked and decided that you need to work things out with Carter. They’re going to kidnap him, then ambush you to make sure you guys talk it out,” Elijah said. “I didn’t even know you two were having problems. Why didn’t I know this?”
Caden sighed. “Drama. So much drama.”
“I just texted Grey. If Carter is going to have his besties, it’s only fair you have your Hot Mess Club,” Zoe said. She glared at him. “I can’t believe you guys didn’t let me in your club.”
“Zo Zo,” Elijah said. “You’re mine. I’m your posse.”
“You’re the best posse ever,” Zoe said, blowing Elijah kisses. “Do I need to be there to support Carter?”
“Zoe,” Caden said. “You’re my neighbor. Don’t you have any loyalty?”
“Neighbor?” Elijah eyes narrowed. Shit. Caden had forgotten to tell anyone about the move. “You’re living with Yeo? You didn’t tell us that you moved in with your omega?” He stood and glared at Caden. “It’s on, now, Caden. You’ve been warned.” He turned to Zoe. “We’re bringing the love tonight, Zo Zo. Be there.” He stalked off.
“Where?” Zoe called after him. “Where am I supposed to be? Damn it,” she said.
“Considering I’ll either be in the bookstore or at home, it shouldn’t be too hard to figure it out,” Caden said dryly. “I thought you were all set to spread the news about the move?”
Zoe sighed. “I was being nice. It hurt, but I wanted to try. I’ll never do it again.” She gave him a look. “Why didn’t you tell anyone you moved?”
“It’s only been a few days,” Caden said. “To be honest, my mind has been on the trouble Yeo’s grandfather has been giving him.”
“I get that,” Zoe said. “I guess, I just thought you’d call Carter to help you move or something.”
“Tanner had the day off and came to help,” Caden said, shrugging.
Zoe slapped his shoulder. “That right there is the problem. Why did you call Tanner and not Carter?”
Caden thought for a minute. “I don’t know. I talk to Tanner more, and I knew he was off that day.”
She shook her head. “You deserve the beat down of love you’re going to get.”
“What is a beat down of love exactly?”
“I have no idea. I need to go strategize with Elijah. We’ll need to coordinate outfits too,” she said, sliding out of the booth. “I’ll get you a latte for Yeo.”
“That’s alright. I don’t think coffee is good for him right now,” Caden said without thinking.
Zoe slid back in the booth. “Caden. Sweet, silent, brooding, Caden. Tell Ms. Zoe what the fuck you mean by that.”
“You can’t tell anyone,” he said, wincing. “I don’t even know if it’s what I think it is.”
“Did we not just agree that I need to tell everyone everything?”
“Yeo doesn’t even realize it yet. His omega line is swollen and pink. It itches like crazy,” Caden said.
Zoe vibrated in her seat, trying not to squeal. “Is he pregnant? I know he wants another baby, so this would be so awesome!”
