“Let’s see,” Yeo said, tapping his chin. “Paul Cross and his company like to feel involved in the ordering process. I think I should call him and let him know that the salespeople at Jacobs Manufacturing have wonderful people skills. He’d be much better suited ordering from them.”

“What the fuck are you talking about? Cross just called to complain yesterday,” Michael said. “How did you know that?”

“I know the idiot you hired,” Yeo said. “He may be better than Derek, but not by much. Cross isn’t one to sit back and accept a less than stellar experience.”

“You can’t call him. We’d lose his account.”

“Like I give a damn. If you don’t want me to call each and every one of your large accounts and recommend they go to one of your rivals, you’ll do what I say.”

“What do you want?” Michael sounded tired again.

“You will make grandpa cancel the custody suit. Make it clear that I will ruin the fucking company if you don’t,” Yeo said. “My alpha is a magnificent lawyer and would love to tear the bastard a new one, but I’d rather this be taken care of quietly.”

“Fine. I’ll talk to him,” his father said. “You have an alpha?” His voice dripped with disgust. “I take it you won’t be coming back?”

“I’d rather become a panhandler in Antarctica. Let me know when he withdraws his petition.”

“I’ll deal with Dad, but there’s nothing I can do about Tracy.”

“Oh, I don’t need your help for her,” Yeo said sweetly. “There is one other thing.”

“What?”

“Lowell. I want two weeks with him in the summer. I’ll pay for his flights. He’s our brother and we miss him.”

“I don’t want him corrupted,” Michael said.

“He’s sixteen and has a brain of his own. Do you want your company to fail?”

“Fine. Two weeks and Two weeks only,” he said, gritting his teeth.

The call ended and Caden hugged him. “How did that feel, angel?”

“So good,” Yeo said. “I never stood up to him until Summer did. Do you know she had to live in a group home until we met with the judge? It was horrible. I lost any desire to please that bastard when he did that.”

“I don’t blame you,” Caden said, rubbing his shoulders. “What do you want to do about Tracy? She has zero chance of winning.”

“I shouldn’t find this fun,” Yeo said. He called Fawn, putting her on speaker phone. “Hey, pretty lady.”

“Yeo,” she said. “It’s so nice to hear from you. How is Summer doing?”

“Good. She’s auditioning for the role of Juliet tonight at school. She’s really good.”

“Oh.” Fawn sounded surprised. “I didn’t know she was interested in theatre.”

“I’ll record her audition and send it to you,” he said.

“Thank you, Yeo,” Fawn said, voice soft. “Now, why did you call? Your grandpa and that nasty woman you married have been spending a lot of time together. Poor Derek doesn’t know what the hell he’s gotten into.”

“Tracy wants to sue for custody of Linc.”

“What! She isn’t even his mother,” Fawn said.

“You know that? I thought I kept it hidden,” Yeo said, surprised.

“Sweetie, you despise that woman. Why would you go on a four month cruise with her? Plus, you came back with a baby,” Fawn said.

“Everyone thought she didn’t want anyone to see her big and pregnant,” Yeo said.
