“Yeah. My buddy said they were still investigating, but it looked like it was a jealous spouse. The alpha was handsome, even if he was an asshole. He managed to get around.”
“How is Papa?” Yeo wanted to go get him and hold him forever.
“Not so great,” Ray said. “When his alpha died, they lost the farm. The fucker owed a lot of money to some shady ass people. The man didn’t believe in educating omegas either, and he kept them all under his thumb. Your papa has no education and was seldom allowed to even leave the house. I don’t know if he’s able to do a lot of physical work with his injuries.”
“Are they alright right now? How are they living?” Summer had tears in her eyes. Hannah wasn’t the only sweet and kind teenager around.
“Yeo’s oldest half-brother is twenty, and he is working hard as a dishwasher in Jackson to support them all. The other three are sixteen, twelve, and nine. They’re all staying in a house right next to their old farm,” Ray said. “It’s really sad. They were apparently attached to the critters they kept on the farm, but they can’t afford to take care of them. One of the neighbors took the animals, so they at least to get visit them.”
“Caden,” Yeo said, looking to his alpha.
“I have a large lake cabin with several acres standing empty, and you need to hire some more people for the store,” Caden said. “Can you take off a few days so we can go get them?”
“I love you, Caden Benson,” Yeo said. He had one amazing alpha.
“I want to go,” Summer said. “We’ll need to get a ton of trailers, and we’ll need to buy back their pets from that neighbor. Is the land fenced in at the lake cabin, Dad?”
“No, but Grey and Harper probably won’t mind storing some pets until we can get a fence and barn up,” Caden said. He would need a lot of drivers, or he would need to hire some people.
“You had best call your brother for help before you call Tanner or your buddies,” Ray said. “A whole trip with your brother would count for a lot of weekly bonding times. Zoe will approve.” The large beta gave Yeo a big-eyed, puppy dog look. “Can I have seconds?”
