“You called me?” Erak hurried in with Tomi right behind him. “We already heard what has happened.”
“The surprise is the whole family isn’t here.”
“They are probably here unless they were held up.” Dori said as she walked in the door followed by Niku and Betty. “Romo and Bree are taking care of the kids. Cretia and Toreen are tied up. We’ll catch them all up later.“
“Good to know. Davy and Jarel already are aware of the problem and working on it.” Torr offered.
“We were sure of that.” Dori said. “Now what is the problem and why isn’t Kitty here?”
“I’m not sure if she should be told about the problem. She has so much to worry about already.” Torr said. Dori shot him a look. “Alright.” He pressed his com ringing Kitty.
She should know to come to him here. Now everyone looked at him. “Davy was in the video room observing activity around the castle as she often does. Better than most, she caught some odd behavior and reported it.”
“What happened?” Kitty asked as she entered.
“Davy caught activity. It turned out to be a group of dissidence. They are after you and anyone else involved in the program. Some of them are human brought here by this group. It’s hard to say how they managed this, but the did. Jarel believes they were smuggled aboard cargo ships by captains or other high-level workers.” He admitted.
“I see you called everyone in. Was I last?”
“I didn’t want to disturb you until they were here.”
“Try again?”
“I wasn’t sure if I should tell you or not.”
“You should always tell me.” Kitty confirmed.
Just like her mother, she needed to know. “I understand. Now what should we do?”
“Davy is no doubt investigating. When we go back to Earth, we will be able to see if they are recruiting.” She suggested.
“What do we do for now?” He asked.
“Everyone must be watchful because you are all targets.” Garulto explained. “Meanwhile, I will put my best detectives on it.”
“I suppose that is all we can do for now.” He said.
“We will have a picnic in a week. Please come.” Dori invited. “This is notice for everyone.”
“A spur of the moment thing?” He asked.
“No, it is time for an event and there are many reasons for it.” Dori replied.
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
He appreciated that Dori paired him with Kitty, and he hoped it would help. Torr wanted nothing in his life like he wanted this female. She was his perfect match and all he needed. If only he could make more progress.
People began to leave after he dismissed them. Kitty stayed and he hoped there was a good reason for this. If only she wasn’t staying to complain. Once all the others were gone, he turned to her. “I’m always glad to see you.”
“I’m not sure that’s always true. Why were you hiding this from me?”
“Hiding? That’s such a harsh term. I just found this out and was trying to decide how to deal with it.”
“So, you were going to ask my family if you should tell me?” Kitty asked.
“We don’t know each other very well yet. The program is hard to handle, you’ve even said it takes much time. I simply asked your mom if you’d want to know. Clearly she said yes.”
“Okay, fair enough. In the future, you know that I always want to know anything affecting me.”
