“It’s an Earth saying. It emphasizes how strongly I mean what I said.”

“Okay. Your Earth talk is so complicated. Sometimes I believe I’ll never understand it all.”

“What were you wanting to do today?”

“What?” Torr asked.

“You ask if I had plans?”

“Oh, yes. I thought we might tour the country side and maybe the royal garden?” He asked.

“I’ve already seen Erak’s garden.”

“You have?” He asked.

“Tomi took me through it.”

“Of course, she did. I meant my gardens. My castle is an easy flight from here.” He realized she was nervous. Flying on his back seemed to have that effect on her.

“Okay.” She said. Maybe she knew they would work together a long time and she needed to act more comfortable around him.

“Why don’t we go now?” She just nodded and he headed to the roof with her behind him.

The guards saw them and got out a ladder. He changed and this time she didn’t hesitate. Maybe he was reading too much into it, but he thought she was getting used to him. Slowly, he was chipping away at the walls around her. Erak said that’s what he did with Tomi.

Once she was on his back, he went skyward. She felt as if she belonged there always. If only he could convince her it was so. They headed to the fish factory again but this time it would be running. Those females and their anger had fascinated him. Kitty seemed to understand them. He came in for a landing.

“The fish factory again?” She asked.

“Yes. I am concerned about the people here. Especially the females we spoke to. I want to be sure they are adapting.” He saw his guards in the distance trying not to interfere as he’d asked but not leave him unprotected.

They entered the factory where Kitty immediately found a uniform to wear. It was harder to find one for him. The hairnets bothered him as he’d never worn such a thing. They entered the room where the fish were being processed.

“Look who is back.” One of the females exclaimed.

“We wanted to see how you were adjusting.” Kitty said.

“We’re just fine. The food isn’t bad, and the housing is better than I’m used to. The work isn’t too bad either. Want to try?” She asked.

He and Kitty were given knives and he did okay, but Kitty was good at it. She kept up with the ladies that worked here. It was impressive.

“Why are you so good at this?” One of the females asked.

“I worked with knives a lot. I cut fish when I caught them, and I also worked with a surgeon.”

“You’re a doctor?” One asked.

“Here they are called healers. But yes, that is what I am.”

“That’s amazing. I never met a doctor like you.” She admitted.

“Kitty is unique. We also planned to invite you to the masked ball at the castle. Here is a card that will gain you entrance. If you have any trouble with the needs for the ball, just call Kitty. I believe you will enjoy it.”

“Thank you.” The lady said echoed by many.

Once they were outside alone, Kitty turned to him. “That was nice of you. I didn’t know there was a ball.”

“This will be a new one celebrating mates from Earth.” He explained.
