Chapter 3
Danger Abounds
“I’d forgotten about your work release. That program is very civilized.”
“Your mom is responsible for that.”
“I’m sure, but you must have agreed.” Kitty observed.
“I did, but it solved a problem and gave us money back to help others with.”
“It is admirable that you help your people in that way.”
“We have plenty of money.” He admitted.
“Back home some have plenty and just want more.”
“Our people are our greatest treasure. I hope those from your planet that came here will be added to that. We will do whatever we can to see that they live long happy lives.” Torr admitted.
“I will do all I can to help them integrate into your population.”
”I know you will. So far things look good.”
“It’s my hope that each group will work out better.”
“Mine as well. Let’s go to the next level now.” They went to the next level where there was a pool and other recreational things. “This level has these recreational facilities and some employee quarters.”
“This pool is gorgeous. What is this flower. I didn’t see one in the garden.”
“It’s a flower raised all over the planet for its perfume and the sweetness of its flowers.”
“I had no idea you had anything like that.” She observed.
“I’ve heard you had such things on Earth. It seems we have many of the same things here.”
“What is on this floor?” She asked.
“Many rooms for those who live here.”
“How many floors do you have?”
“Seven. The floors are wide and there are many rooms on each.” He could see she was breathing heavy when they reached the next floor. “There is a viewing room on this floor. Let’s take a break there.”
“This is wonderful. I believe I can see for miles. Is that a lake?”
“It is. We eat a fish several times a week and, on this floor, we have a kitchen and cafeteria. My cooks aren’t as good as Erak’s, but I hope to send someone to train with Tomi soon. Can you cook like she can?” He explained.
“Honestly? My mother trained all of us, but I’ve not done much cooking in several years.” She admitted.
“Perhaps you’ll try to cook for me sometime?”
“I feel like I’m interviewing for a job.”
“Sorry. I was just interested. Is there another subject you’d prefer to discuss?”
“Yes, who is that group headed our way?”
Torr let out a loud cry and everyone around them mobilized. She followed him feeling forgotten as he made his way to an armory where some people were getting armed as others changed to their dragon forms to head off the group. They were too far to see if they were male or female. Clearly, they assumed they were enemies. She grabbed a gun so she could protect herself and she could only hope these attackers would stand out. He seemed extremely angry and with all the attacks lately, she wondered why.
