Following him out on a terrace, she saw dragons divebombing the attackers. “Why are you so angry?”

“This castle hasn’t been attacked in hundreds of years. The unmitigated gall of these people.”

“But they’ve been attacking Erak’s castle often.” She pointed out.

“Yes, and all the other kings have dealt with attacks, but not me.”

“You’re surprised they’ve decided to attack you?” She asked.

“Look at how we’re decimating them. This isn’t a smart place to attack. It’s a stronghold. This place is fortified, and I have the largest army based here and the surrounding area. There are also built in security measures.”

“It doesn’t sound like these people are smart or like they care about their soldiers.” She pointed out.

“We’ve seen that over and over. Right now, we’re capturing large numbers of their soldiers. We will interrogate them and then decide what to do with them.”

“Just an observation. Don’t you think you are letting large numbers of these enemy soldiers congregate at the mining meteor? According to Tomi, they don’t seem to mind being sent there.”

“That’s true, but we assumed they didn’t want to stay with any of us.” He observed.

“That or they have a plan.”

“We have spies there that should catch any plans they make.”

“Just saying, many are human and on Earth they would infiltrate the meteor and take it over.”

“I’ll have Davy set up some more surveillance on the meteor. It looks like we’ve decimated the attacking group. We’ll be finding out what they were up to.”

“I’d like to go with you. Maybe it will shake them up to see me.”

Was she showing interest in what he did or was she just curious about those who had attacked the castle while she was in it? “Alright. You can come with me.” He agreed.

She followed him as he headed to the dungeon. While it was dark and a bit damp, it wasn’t the worst place she’d ever seen prisoners held. There were many of them filling many of the cells. One sat in a chair being questioned.

“Why did you attack the castle?”

“We don’t want human females brought here.” The prisoner said.

“Why not? Your planet is over populated with a slight extra number of females.”

“You’re taking all the best people.”

“You truly believe your government would allow this? We are given single mothers, unskilled workers, and those with illnesses your government can’t cure.”

“I don’t believe you.”

“Here, watch this clip.” It showed their negotiations with the government.

“It must be faked.”

“You’re too stubborn to ever be convinced of the truth.”

The prisoner just sat there saying nothing. He didn’t know anything, she could tell. They moved him and got another to take his place. If anything, this one looked even angrier.

“You attacked us. What the hell are you mad about?”

“We were willing to die for a shot at your emperor. It was a good day to die.”

“It was a good day to live too. Maybe not for you since you are too stupid to live.”
