“Apparently, they didn’t tell you about the castle defenses either, did they? You had no hope at all. It was a foolish plan. Their intention was just to upset the emperor.”

“They sacrificed so many for that?”

“You have no value to them. Surely you can see that?” She asked.

“What about you?”

“I had a cousin who got on the wrong side of the mob. She met a male from here and he whisked her away to keep her safe. They threatened my whole family and actually came to abduct my sister and her little girl. They planned to kill them if she didn’t trade herself for them. No way she could have gotten back in time. Luckily these guys stepped in and caught them. They offered sanctuary to my whole family; everyone went but me.”

“Why didn’t you go?”

“I was in my last year of training and stubborn. I should have left but I hated not to finish something. I dealt with a boss that hit on me all the time and it wasn’t easy. When I was done, he told me I’d never get a job if I didn’t give in to him. I got a job here. Shows he was wrong.”

“Well, I’ve heard that happens, but you should have fought it.” He advised.

“He already assured me he would ruin me. The man was established in my field. I would have lost everything. Better to move on. You fought, I understand that, but you fought a lie.”

“I still believe the basics of what they told me. They were just the wrong group to fight with.”

“Did you know they negotiated with your government about who they could take?”

“No, that’s not possible.”

“Medicine in certain ways is much better here. Their herbal knowledge is amazing. A percentage of people brought had illnesses that were terminal. They cured them. Another percent were orphaned children stuck in the system. They also took a large percent of criminals, even murderers. Would you like to have them back?”

“No, that can’t be true.”

“You’ll probably be sent where they are. It’s a colony that resembles the wild west. Little law and a lot of hard work.”

“You’re serious? I wouldn’t last a day?”

“Maybe you’d find a protector.”

His face turned pale. “That’s insane. This race is advanced.” He said.

“You wanted to attack them.”

“I thought they were using their greater abilities to get all our smart and pretty people, especially females.”

“It’s true they are taking more females, but they are also getting males.”

“You can prove this?”

“Of course. I have all the paperwork. There were also videos taken as people boarded the three ships. Only one went here. The other two went to colonies. One was the one I told you about.”

“I was helpful. They should give me a break.”

“After they check your information, they will consider your case. But they already gave you one break.”

“Yeah? What was that?”

”They could have killed you.” She left after that statement.

“I see what you mean.” Torr said. “I sent the information to Davy to help her research.”

“If he’s correct, she’ll find everything.”

“He told what he knew. I can often tell when people lie. Unfortunately, he wasn’t told much.”
