“Get a plan together and we’ll work on it. When we go to Earth, we’ll follow the plan and get the people we need. Do you need to contact our people on Earth?”
“Yes, but that will be the easy part. Instead of getting people for colonies, you may need to start here so you can get guards to stomp out this rogue activity. Of course, we’ll still get prisoners for Coroga. We have nowhere else for the violent ones to go.”
“Agreed. Meanwhile here is safer for you than anywhere else and we can work together easily.”
“You’re not going to try to make me believe that’s why you brought me here, are you?”
“That’s part of it.”
“But not all.” She stated.
“No, I’ll admit that. You know the other reason.” Kitty turned red and nodded. “A guard will show you to your room.” He didn’t add that it was next door to his with a connecting door that was currently locked. She’d figure that out soon enough.
Now that Kitty was here, he felt more comfortable. His worry wasn’t off the charts anymore. She was safe and he could get to work. The problem was when it came to these rogues, he didn’t know where to start. Especially since Erak was already investigating them.
It wasn’t like he didn’t have enough to do without the rogues being around. He got back to the work of being an emperor. Torr saw several people that had been waiting that he’d not had the chance to see. Two were merchants in his area concerned about the attack. They knew as much as he did. Next time he would have his secretary handle them.
“Jezzure!”
“Yes, Sire?” Jezzure grinned at him.
“Next time you deal with those two. You know as much as I do, and they seemed to as well.”
“They refused to tell me why they wanted to see you. Both said it was urgent.”
“Next time tell them if they can’t give a reason, they don’t get in.”
“Thank you.”
Yeah, he knew his secretary didn’t like some of the arrogant males that were rich and took on airs. The problem was they weren’t only wealthy, they were also influential. They were pillars of the community and always invited to any affairs of state at the castle. His PA, Al had been busy away from the office and hadn’t been able to help. He sighed heavily as he thought about the problems blocking their access to him would cause.
Putting those thoughts aside, he had supper and returned to work for more meetings. He ended his day on a high note. Erak sent word that they’d found some information on the group and they did seem to be the source of the Earthers that attacked them. That was a start that could lead to them stopping the recruiting of more Earthers.
Dori had sent a list of spices and he forwarded them to the procurer that purchased everything the castle needed. He hoped to tempt his female into cooking for him. It was just that he was curious if she could cook or not. Not that she didn’t know how to do enough things that he was aware of already.
It was time to write a list because the trip to Earth was coming up fast. While he’d be gone and most leaders would worry, his people were perfectly capable of repelling an attack even if he wasn’t there. That didn’t make him feel unneeded, it made him feel proud of the training and ability his people showed. During the last attack, everyone had stepped up and done those tasks they were assigned to perfection. There had been no hesitation on the part of any of his guards or leaders. That was even though they hadn’t been attacked during any of his people’s lifetimes. He wasn’t happy that it started during his reign.
Right now, he was worn out and felt tired as hell. Maybe things would work out better tomorrow, but for now he was going to turn in for the night.
