Chapter 4
Earth
The blue and white marble twirled below them. While the trip was interesting, it was good to finally reach their destination. Everyone onboard was getting restless herself included. Torr had made a hundred moves on her and she had to admit he was making progress although they’d not crossed the line that would make them lovers, at least not in her eyes.
It was good to be at her second home because Earth would always feel like a second home to her. Now she had to put the needs of Draconis first, but that didn’t mean what she wouldn’t help Earth too. After all, this was an overpopulate planet and each person removed helped the planet just a little.
The environmental aids like clean energy traded for those people were an even bigger help. Of course, they wanted weapons, but only an idiot would give them those. Medicine, food, and technology to heal their planet should be enough to please them. The fact that they took violent criminals, families that relied on the support of the state, and orphans should also please them.
Trading had been fierce this time as the politicians felt that people would only be wanted in limited numbers. They were unaware that the empire spread across more than one livable heavenly body. This was information they didn’t need. The first meeting to finalize the new agreement was in the morning.
It wouldn’t affect this group of people. They were already loading now. The ship headed toward Coroga would load and leave right away. The ship for Helo colony would load next and leave. Their ship would leave last and have the most to do. They would trade goods and negotiate a lasting contract with the US. For now, that would be enough.
“The first ship has loaded, checked their lists, and headed to Coroga.” Her assistant said.
“Thank you.” She responded.
“That’s good isn’t it?” Her constant companion, Torr, expressed.
“It’s always good when things go according to a plan.” She approved.
“What’s next?” He asked.
“The ship for Helo.”
“How long will that take?”
“I’d guess four hours.”
“Shouldn’t we go to sleep?” Torr asked.
“That’s a plan. See you in four hours.”
She headed to her room and knew Torr was disappointed. He wanted more and had expected to have it by now. Admittedly, she was attached and probably wouldn’t hold out much more. It didn’t mean she’d just give in easily. It was a woman’s job to make a male work for what he got. She smiled as she reached her door. There was time and now was time for sleep.
Once she showered and dressed in PJs, she lay in bed and sleep came fairly quickly. Waking was a different matter. She could hear the ship’s computer talking, but she didn’t want to wake. Finally, she realized she’d best get up. Dressed and ready for action, she went looking for her assistant or anyone else who might know what was going on. She found Torr first.
“Any word on if the Helo ship is loaded yet?” She asked.
“I’ve not heard, but it should be.”
“Hm, if it was, we’d be told.”
“What would delay it?”
“Many possible things. Don’t they have three thousand on that ship?”
“Yes, so?”
“I can think of three thousand things that could go wrong.” She giggled.
A young crewman approached. He bowed then looked at Torr. “Excuse me, Sire. The Helo ship is on its way now.”
“Thank you.” Torr said and the young male scurried away.
“Now we know. We’ll be loading next.”
“I’d like the kids to load first. I wish to meet them and see how they are.”
