Chapter 5

His Mate

Had there been any doubts which there hadn’t, he would be sure now. She was his. His spirit soared as he thanked the goddess for bringing him his perfect match. But how did she feel? Kitty was so hard to read, and she seemed to have shut down showing even less feeling than usual. Did that mean being with him had just been an average experience for her?

Goddess help him if she didn’t share the excitement he’d had when they had finally been together. There was no doubt he would claim her soon even if he had to keep her captive to do so. Claiming in the old way was frowned on but no one would interfere with him. Even her own family approved of his pursuit of her.

It was time to leave and go check on what was happening on the bridge. Leaning over, he kissed her softly enjoying the feel of just being with her. “I need to go.” He whispered.

“Don’t you mean we need to go?” She asked as she hopped out of bed and ran for the shower.

He was caught off guard, but he ran after her catching up at the shower. Once she stepped in, he followed. The water was warm, not hot as he usually enjoyed it best. When he changed his mate, she would enjoy it that way too.

The shower was both relaxing and exciting as he lifted her and held her against the wall. Her legs hugged his hips and her arms wrapped around his neck. His shaft sank deep inside her and he began to piston his hips in and out. Her muscles contracted squeezing his member like a sweet hug. They shivered with need.

This was going to be fast just to take the edge off their need. Just moments later his mate found her release and he followed. They cleaned up and got out. Then they got ready. Now they headed to the bridge to see what had occurred while they had been gone.

“The ships have all been taken, Sire, except the two that fled. We had no losses and the pirates had been locked in cells found on all ships. Their prisoners were released, many were female. Some were even Earthers.” Horon explained.

“How is this possible?” Torr asked.

“Apparently they intercepted a ship that had Earther females on board. Earth is attempting trading with some worlds that are space faring but not as advanced as us.” Horon replied.

“That’s why they wanted to keep the contract on a monthly basis.” Kitty whispered. He nodded.

“Are they planets we have agreements with?”

“Only one is. Taiget is an underwater civilization. Little of the planet has landmasses and those are worked by slaves.” Horon observed.

“The females would have been enslaved. I can’t believe Earth would allow this. Then again, politicians are greedy, and they may have believed no one would ever find out. What did the females onboard say?” Kitty asked.

“That they were trading one prison for another.” Horon admitted.

“Convicts. They would feel justified in selling them. It’s still not right.” Kitty noted.

“What is the condition of the ships?”

“The oldest two are operational. Since you were resting, I called for a ship to meet us here so once they arrive, we can go with the two ships that are ready. The later model ships won’t be ready for a day or two. Once we take off, we’ll meet another ship so they can take over escort duties. I hope this was an acceptable plan?” Horon asked.

“Very good. When is the first ship arriving?”

“In two hours or so. It’s the Eclipse and she’s carrying the needed materials for repairs if the engineers can get things going.”

“Let us know when they arrive. We’ll be checking with our guests.” He replied as he escorted Kitty to the dining room where breakfast would begin soon.

Once they were on their way, this would be just another day along the way. When they arrived, a few people were already milling around drinking the coffee that was always available to them. None of the newly recruited soldiers were hanging around and the guests seemed less nervous. Many of the soldiers must be on the other ships.

As breakfast time loomed, families began to come out looking around probably for the soldiers they were leery of. Again, they seemed relieved when they weren’t visible. Soon, all the tables were full, and food was being served. Food on this ship was good because they had a cook trained by Tomi. She felt bad for the other ships that took on fully prepared meals from Earth much like institutions used.

“So where are all our soldiers?” A man asked.

“They were called to assist on other ships.” Kitty replied.

“Did that have anything to do with the activity in the hall yesterday?” He asked.

“Indeed. You must have heard them leaving.” She answered.

After that, no one else mentioned them. “How long will it take to get to Draconis?” A young girl asked.
