“Each one that is redeemed is one less to fight.” Kitty agreed.

“If we can’t redeem them, this fight will be hard.” Davy admitted.

“The fight in the colonies will be worse. They’ll be dug in and it will be hard to smoke them out.” Jarel admitted.

“We’ll follow our plan and do the best we can.” Torr suggested.

She knew with the program this was not a good time to have the problem with the rogues, but they didn’t have a choice. Hopefully, they would manage to take control of things and deal with the rogues and the Earthers in the best possible way.

The Earthers ended up coming in and getting jobs and a place to live. Several joined the military mostly as guards and the rest fit into jobs all over. Only a few didn’t fit in and ended up going to the meteor or other colonies. The next day Mortee’s brother came in with his group and they were all forgiven and went back to their previous lives.

Those rogues on the planet seemed dealt with. The ones on the colonies were a different matter. There was much to deal with there. Finally, they could get back to the work of bringing Earthers to Draconis and filling out the workforce here.

Chapter 7

Making Plans

“I wanted to let you know Thomas, Carla’s son made it in the program, and he appears to be settling in. With so much happening, I forgot to mention it.” He explained.

“I knew. Earl updated me. He said several other young got in the program including a few girls. I’m proud of you being so open minded. I’m sure you’ll suffer for it.” Kitty observed.

“What do you mean?”

“Those against females in the military will be doubly against younger females there.”

“That’s true or would be except right now they are just training for support position just like the young males are. None of them should be placed in any danger for now. If they do well enough, that could change. I’ll deal with it then.”

“Wise choice. I’m glad they are working well. It also helps their families to have them learning and working toward a job.”

“Indeed, it does. They get paid for any hours they work and most begin working a few months in.” Torr informed.

“You may get a few on each ship.”

“The trainers look forward to it.”

“At least seventy percent of the last load are settled in. Most got jobs and ten percent of the females mated. While that seems quick, that was why many of the unmated females came.” Kitty explained.

“I’m well pleased with those figures. They have settled better than the first ship. Perhaps we’ve done better helping them.”

“There’s no doubt that’s true. We’ve added some information that prepared them better and got the word out more, so we’ve had more to choose from. I believe some of those we’ve taken have helped the government, but they are some of the ones that did the best here.”

“Do you know why that is?” Torr asked.

“I do. They weren’t given a fair chance on Earth. Here they were and their past experience made them willing to work hard to acclimatize to Draconis. The kids, seem to always do well.”

“I can’t believe they treat them so poorly.”

“It’s a serious failing on my old planet.” Kitty admitted. “The government will try dealing harder with you each time. Eventually, we may be forced to go to other governments.””

“That’s a shame, but they may be easier to work with.”

“They will be, but we’ll need to hire locals that speak the language and can work with both the government and the people we bring here.”

“Your suggestion?”

“We need to get some people in place now. I’d start with Canada and Mexico. Maybe even Central America. There are people there that will want to leave. I’m not sure how the government will be to deal with. Central America may be harsher on their people than other places.”

“Talk to Ranger and get things started.”
