“How will you go there?” Torr asked.
“We’ll fly in dragon form.” Jarel replied.
“Go with strength.” Torr called out. He had a feeling they would go well.
A whole new line would open up if Garulto took the position as king or if Ranger took it. An action like this was a surprise so soon after the recent rise in position. Something lower might move up in another line as well if lower officers were removed from Frick’s castle.
The flight of dragons showing up at Frick’s castle would announce a surprise. Erak looked concerned as he watched them hurry away. “You worry for them?” He asked.
“I do. We don’t know what Frick has amassed at his castle.” Erak said.
That was true. They had no idea what hid there. “Send more soldiers of some skill with them as well.” He directed.
“Perhaps Tomi and I could go along.” Erak asked.
“Why don’t we make it a party, Torr? We can all go?” Kitty asked.
He could see her concern as he’d sent half her family. “Why not. Let’s change and fly along. They are picking up others and we’ll surely catch up.
Erak smiled. “I’m sure we can if the girls don’t slow us down.”
“You’ll eat those words.” Tomi observed.
They all jumped in the air and out the hallway window made for just that kind of jump in a moment. The females took off and now they had to catch them. It would be fun if the reason wasn’t so serious. All of them flew so fast they began to catch the group ahead of them. Looking over at them, they caught looks that were surprised. It was unusual to catch a king and the emperor out flying about like this.
It showed everyone how serious this matter was being taken. What was even possible was that this action might end the serious rogue action on this planet. Draconis might soon be free, but their other planets would still need scoured of the rogues that had run from here to their other planets.
Had they only known what was going on here, they could have kept the other places free of the rogues. This was the first action in terminating that crew of vile traitors. He’d not believed the most serious action had been within his own people that he’d thought loyal.
When they finally made the three-hour flight to Frick’s castle, he heard sentries cry out, ”It’s the emperor!”
“Let them land.” Said the sentry in charge.
“What has happened my liege?” He asked when they landed.
“Frick attempted to attack me. His fire wasn’t hot enough.”
“No one’s ever will be. He should have known better and been a loyal king. I cannot vouch for the others in the castle, but I’ve been with these sentries for many years and Frick has never spoken his treason among us. I’ll admit he’s been acting weird and keeping odd friends, but what can a sentry do about that?”
“Nothing. You did as you should. I will pass it on to your new king.” Torr said. “What is your name?”
“Milem, your grace. Be careful inside. Things have changed.” He cautioned.
“Thank you.” They headed forward spread out with everyone watching carefully. Davy caught the first wrong move and fried the guard.
“Did that female just shoot fire?” Milem asked.
“Indeed, she did.” Torr admitted.
“I know Jarel, her mate, and he can’t.”
Torr shrugged and continued to move forward even though the guard had screamed pitifully. This would not be pretty if more of their males attacked. He’d heard about the ash that had accumulated at Erak’s castle when Tomi and her sister, Bree, had defended themselves. They got a few feet into the castle when the girls had to change and begin throwing their fire. The males were too big to turn and had to stay behind them.
They burned the halls as they moved forward. Some retreated, he wasn’t sure if they planned to give in or hide to battle later. The others just died a senseless death. All of them probably weren’t even traitors which hurt his heart. They made it to the throne room with others behind them and found it empty.
“What now?” Erak asked since Torr was running this fight.
“We now have the sentries led by our people taking out those who plan to fight the power of the emperor. Thank you, ladies. You did an amazing job.”
