They all nodded but stayed in dragon form. This meant their dragons sensed more danger. Either the sentries would talk or fight them out of their adversity. Once they calmed the natives, others would be put in charge for now. The locals would be interrogated then put in appropriate positions.
His military came in one at a time telling him their area had been settled. Finally, Jarel and Davy came in telling him all areas had been settled for now. “Most of those traitorous people have been arrested or fled. Now we will just keep questioning those arrested and looking for any more that stand out.”
“Very good. Is it safe to leave people here in charge?” Torr asked.
“If they can fight if they are attacked, they should be fine. I doubt that any of these people want to fight the whole empire without a leader or any allies.” Jarel pointed out.
“Whoever stays needs to send daily communications and if they fail to contact us, the whole empire’s army will be on them and those working with them.” Torr said loud enough all the locals nearby could hear. He wasn’t planning to play around with these traitors.
For now, everything seemed settled, so it was time to set up those who planned to stay and let the others head back. Surprisingly, Jarel and Davy seemed ready to settle in for a short time. It would be a short time because this kingdom needed to be taken in hand by its new king. Leaving the castle that had once been Frick’s, they headed back to Erak’s castle.
Once there, he would video chat with Ranger before he spoke to anyone else. A few hours later, Erak’s castle was in sight and his dragon had finally flown enough in a day. Everyone landed quickly and moved out of the way of others just as fast. He and Kitty hurried to their rooms where he had a transmitter to contact Ranger. This couldn’t wait.
It took a while before a tired looking Ranger appeared on the screen. When he saw Torr, he immediately straightened up then bowed. “My liege. What can I do for you?”
“I wish to know something. Frick turned traitor and was incinerated. There are two I am considering for the position. Are you interested in it?”
“I know this sounds weird, but I can’t leave Earth right now. I also suspect you’ll have another kingdom open soon.”
“You suspected Frick?”
“I had no proof. He was wily and to accuse a king with no reason would be suicide.”
“True, but I ask you who the other might be.”
“Could I ask you something instead?”
“Ask.”
“Which kingdoms are not participating in your program.”
“Not at all?”
“Not at all or only a little if pressed.” Ranger said.
“That should be easy for my empress to find.”
“She finally accepted you? That is an inspiration for me.”
“It wasn’t easy. Her family was on my side.”
“Mine has no family to aid me. She only has a young brother who is a lot of trouble but finally starting to settle down.”
“You are making progress. I can tell. Stick with it and a happiness beyond belief will eventually be yours.”
“Thank you, my emperor. I’m sure Garulto will accept.” Ranger offered.
“I didn’t say I was selecting Garulto.”
“Who else is there?”
“You’re right. There are many good dragons, but none with the experience you and Garulto have.” Torr admitted. He looked back at Kitty wondering what she would think of this. “I will let you go now and I’m sorry I disturbed you.”
“You are always welcome to contact me. Thank you for the offer.”
“Good bye.” Torr said and he shut off the screen without waiting for Ranger to say good bye too. Ranger was used to him by now. At least now he knew, Garulto would be king.
