“You may.”

“Thank you, my love. I’ll call him and let him know.” That’s just what he did and heard the relief in Torr’s voice when he gave him full run of the kingdom.

“You two will make a wonderful royal couple. I can’t wait to see the progress you make there.” Torr said.

“We’ll need a few days to get ready. Dori will get it all done. The baby will stay behind until things seem safe.”

“I’m sure you’ll have it in hand quickly.” Torr observed.

It was clear he was ready to get his people back. Who could blame him? But soon this kingdom would be another he could count on. First thing the next morning, he began to get things in order at work as Dori got her work in order. By the end of the day, Niku was temporarily in charge and he suspected he would end up the general. Others would move up as well.

When he left to go to the kitchen, he thought about all he would have to do. It surprised him that Dori sat at the table with another lady. “Hello.”

“Hi, Sweetheart. This is Sammy. She’ll be moving in here to caretake the place. I also got a manager to do much of what I did in the program.”

“That’s great.” His mate was amazing.

The next day, Dori had everything here planned out. He helped, but he mainly followed her instructions to get things done. “Where will the little guy stay?”

“Bree will keep him. She has help to work the place and keep up with the inside. It will be okay for a little while. We’ll just have to get things in order so he can come to us soon.”

“We will work hard to get the kingdom in order. Then he can join us.” He observed.

The next morning, they headed to Bree’s to drop the little one. They didn’t stay long. They had a hover car packed with what they needed for a short time and they would manage to get other things as needed.

“I’m sure we’ll be able to order the spices and other supplies needed for the kitchen.” He said.

“Don’t worry. We hired the extra cook Tomi had, the cute young female. We also have supplies coming in on a shuttle from Earth and on another one from the farmer’s market. Both should com today. I plan to access the fields near the castle to be worked right away. If there are any males in the dungeon that aren’t violent, they’ll be getting work release and I’ll use them in the King’s fields.”

“I’m so glad you’re excited about this. There will be much to do.”

“I know, but we can handle this.” She promised.

He felt so much better that he had his female beside him. It was hard to even imagine how bad this kingdom was. He’d not even thought about the dungeon. That was just one more problem to deal with. Maybe Dori would handle it entirely. Gods, he hoped so.

They arrived there at lunch time. The road had been long for a hover car. In dragon form they would have made it in two hours or less. Now they had arrived, tired and ready for nap, not work. Of course, they shook off the dragging feeling they had and got ready for the job of their lives.

He went into the kitchen with Dori and Davy was busy there. She hugged them both and then she and Dori got to work. He slipped away to the meeting room. It had Milem and Jarel there discussing something.

“Good, I caught you here. Milem isn’t it? I believe I remember you from my squad years ago.”

“Yes, my liege. I was one of yours many years ago. I’m pleased to have you here now.”

“I hope you are still pleased later. I will expect a lot from all the males here. How has the food been?” He asked.

“Amazing. The new cook is something else too. I asked her out and she agreed to go.” Milem looked proud as hell.

“I’m happy for you. More females will be coming soon. Your king didn’t want them here. These people have all suffered unnecessarily.”

“He had odd views and most people didn’t know what he was doing. The other kings were blamed for our misfortunes. As far as I knew, he didn’t lay blame on the emperor. It shocked me that he attacked him. That was foolish.” Milem admitted.

“It was the last foolish thing he did. Now we will all work to correct the bad things he’s done. My mate will be working harder than anyone. She’s a force of nature. Please answer her questions and get her any help she needs. The first thing I need to do is find out what openings we have in our command structure. I also need a roster of soldiers and workers. Dori, your queen, will be filling the worker shortages while you and I work on the command structure.”

“Yes, sire.”

“Get me a list and we’ll start on it.” He said.

Milem hurried away and left him with Jarel. “He’s a good soldier. He stopped the males on the wall from fighting us. It was because he recognized the Emperor and me. The shame was the captain of the guard didn’t know or didn’t care. He was burnt to a crisp. The ashes were left in the hall until you decide what to do with them. Torr wanted to send a message.” Jarel admitted.
