“This just shows we have much in common.”
His guard knocked on the door. “Sorry Sire. We have a problem.”
“Excuse me, Kitty. I’ll be back.” But he wasn’t. The problem turned out to be more far reaching than he expected.
“So, explain to me, Jarel, exactly what happened.” He demanded.
“Davy caught unusual activity. When the guards approached the males, they immediately tried to fight to get in the castle. They admitted later that they were after Kitty and anyone else that was involved in bringing humans to Draconis and its colonies.” Jarel explained. “The odd thing was some of them were humans from Earth. So, they brought humans here to protest others bringing humans here.”
“How did they do it?”
“We don’t know but they must not only have access to a ship, but they managed to bypass security at the spaceport or land somewhere else on the planet.”
“Is that possible?”
“Maybe. The only other possibility is they came here as part of a crew and slipped away. If that is the case, they either didn’t notice missing crew, or they didn’t report missing crewmembers.”
“That would get them banned from ever landing here again. Why would they take such a risk?” He asked.
“An owner wouldn’t but a supervisor or captain might. He wouldn’t lose much. Just a job and he could always get another.”
“I see what you mean. We must investigate the crews of any suspect ships.”
“Davy thinks if we investigate the humans we caught, we will get the best track on whoever is doing this.”
“I’ll admit, your Davy has made great suggestions. I can’t wait to see how that clue works out.” He admitted.
“She has found a way to get into the Earth’s internet to run searches on those humans we caught.”
“That’s amazing.”
“It is and it is helping us do many things from recipes to giving Kitty support on her program.”
“Kitty didn’t mention it.”
“She may not be aware since it’s a new technology.” Jarel guessed.
“You’re right. I believe she thinks us more advanced than we are.”
“That’s entirely possible. She has worked with some of your highest and newest tech.”
“I see what you mean. She’s going to be a hard female to get.”
“I thought Davy was difficult but now I appreciate how easy our mating really was. Each of her cousins has been harder and I fear Kitty will be the most difficult.”
“I believe you are right. I can only hope I win her with time and patience. Now let’s get back on this investigation. Make it a priority and bring in any resources you need. Understood?” Jarel nodded and he dismissed him. The work would be underway now.
He thought it best that Kitty didn’t know, but what if she was caught off guard? This was a hard decision to make and he finally called for Garulto and his lovely mate, Kitty’s mom. He waited in his sitting room after he had it scanned for bugs. There were none.
Garulto came in first. “Dori is dropping the babe off at Bree’s. She’ll be here soon.”
“I should call Erak in for this too. My mind is tied up I’m afraid.”
“I’m assuming it concerns Kitty.”
“In particular, but not only her.”
“I appreciate you calling Dori and I in for this.”
