“Will you marry me, Harper?”

“Yes! I will. I’ll marry you, Logan.”

Logan slipped the ring onto her finger and stood, whisking her up in his arms and spinning her around. He lowered her to the pavement and gazed into her eyes, softly touching her cheek with his thumb before he leaned in and pressed his lips to hers—just the right amount of pressure, gentle and soft at first, then more. The perfect kiss for the most perfect moment of her life.

There was sudden applause, cheering, and honking of horns as the food truck owners and patrons celebrated with them. Harper felt like they were in that scene from Never Been Kissed. Everyone around them went fuzzy as the rest of the world faded away, and it was only him and her and their kiss. She would have been happy to let it go on for a while longer, but Kayla’s little arms wrapped around their legs, vying for attention.

As the kiss ended and the cheering invaded their happy little bubble, Logan scooped Kayla up and enveloped them both with his arms.

Harper looked around at the festival she had organized for the man she loved. So much last minute preparation had gone into putting this together. It was meant to be her grand gesture—to show him how much she wanted him back with her—but she didn’t mind one bit that his proposal had stolen the show.

Epilogue

Six months later

I’ll take four mocha cupcakes, please. They’re drooling over there.” Darlene tilted her head toward the book club ladies.

“Comin’ right up.” Harper grabbed a small tray, placed the cupcakes on it, and walked over to the table by the window. “Here ya go, ladies. Do any of you need a refill on the coffee?”

“Only if Logan brings it to me,” Nancy replied with a wink. “Where is that boy this morning?”

“He’s picking up the truck today.” Harper felt almost as giddy as Logan had been when he dropped her off at the shop that morning. Six months had passed since their engagement. Six months of working at the shop together, finding a new truck, and getting it renovated. And this morning, they would finally see the finished product with the new paint job and all.

“Oh, how exciting,” Nancy said.

A horn sounded out front, and Harper beamed. “He’s here!”

She and Ginny scrambled to the door, followed by the book club.

Logan slid the door open. “Who wants a tour?” He stepped down from the truck and held his arm out, ushering them into the new Bittersweet.

Harper sidled up to him, wrapping her arms around his waist, as the book club ladies disappeared inside.

“We did it,” he whispered.

She looked up into his eyes. “Are you happy?”

“You know I am.” He leaned down and pressed his lips against hers, soft at first, then more pressure—just the way she liked it.

“Maybe we should give you two some privacy,” Darlene said as she stepped down from the truck.

The ladies all cackled.

Logan nodded toward the group as he pulled Harper closer. “If I remember right, you ladies wanted us to kiss, so we’re just doing what you told us to do.” He kissed Harper’s cheek as the ladies burst into laughter again.

Darlene patted Harper on the back as she passed. “We’re happy for you two. And the truck looks great, Logan.”

“Congratulations,” said the others as they all headed back into the shop.

“Thanks, ladies. Coffee’s on me,” Logan announced as they followed the group inside.

They cheered, and Harper giggled at their enthusiasm.

Logan moved behind the counter to the coffee station they had installed when he started working there last November. Once he had finished making the coffee, he joined Harper in gathering up boxes of supplies and goodies to load into the truck.

“Are you sure you can handle this place tomorrow without us?” Harper asked Ginny.

“I’ll have Marco and Hazel here helping with the coffee. He’s always helping me fill orders when he works, so I’ll be fine.”
