“Good.” She could not concentrate with him around, and she needed to focus on work, not how good he looked at the moment.

“Can we talk?” he asked. “Just for a minute.”

“I’m working, Micah.”

“I know. It’ll only take a minute.”

She sighed and nodded reluctantly. Her eyes pleaded with Jamie to get her out of this, but Jamie simply shrugged and went back to taking pictures.

Some hero she was.

Micah led her to the kitchen and through the sliding doors onto the deck. She tried not to stand too close to him.

“Chase was wondering if you could come with us guys tonight and photograph the bachelor party.”

Her eyes widened. “They didn’t hire me for that.”

“I know, but he’s doing something a little different for his party, and he would love to have pictures.”

She stared at him, waiting for him to fill in the blanks.

“Will you come?”

“I need details, Micah.”

“You’ll just have to come and see what he has planned. Nobody gets details until they arrive.”

She wasn’t so sure about this.

“They’ll pay you for it, if that’s what you’re worried about.”

“I’m worried about what this is and what to expect when I get there. Like, is it going to be R-rated?”

Micah started laughing. “PG, all the way.”

“Okay, I guess.”

“Excellent. Thank you.” He squeezed her arm before heading back inside.

She could barely move from that spot, and little tingles were moving over her skin leaving the hairs on her arm standing on end. Ugh! Why can’t I escape him even for a day?

“I’ll text you the time and location.” He spoke over his shoulder as he entered the house.

“Wait, you don’t have my number.”

“Keely gave it to me.”

Keely. She was going to have words with Miss Cupid before this day was through.

Chase and Micah left minutes later, and the air returned to Shannon’s lungs.

Jamie wandered up to her. “You didn’t tell me how good-looking Micah is.”

One would have to be blind not to see how attractive Micah was, which didn’t make staying away from him any easier.

They moved to the side of the room as Keely’s mother began to speak.

“Thank you all for coming to celebrate Keely’s wedding weekend. The women sitting in this room right now make up several generations who’ve played a part in making Keely the lovely woman she is today. Through your friendship and encouragement and Godly example, you’ve helped guide her through life and prepared her for the man she will spend the rest of her life with.”
