“We’ll keep our eyes and ears open and pray,” Maggie told her. “There’s a better studio space out there for you, and God’s going to help us find it.”

Shannon forced the tears back, put her arm around Maggie, and gave her a side hug. “You guys are the best.”

“Well, you’re important to us,” Maggie said with a smile.

“And we have to stick together,” Simon stated.

“Yes, we do.” Her phone chimed from her bedroom alerting her of a text. “Excuse me for a second.”

A text from Jamie read “Did you get equipment?”

“I did!” Shannon replied.

“So relieved. I got some too. Any news from Micah on our stuff?”

“Not yet.”

“I’ll be there to take you to the church a little before nine.”

“See you then.”

Shannon returned to the kitchen. “Jamie got some equipment too.”

“Yeah, she just texted to let us know.” Maggie held up her phone.

Shannon was thankful for the great community of photographers they were a part of. The people she’d come to know because of their quarterly photographer gatherings had changed her life. They’d helped guide her as she built her business, given advice, referred clients to her for events and weddings. And this morning had reminded her what an amazing source of support and encouragement they all were. Not to mention, three of the biggest blessings in her life had come from that group—Maggie, Simon, and Jamie.

Shannon felt a peace she hadn’t felt in a long time after her conversation with Maggie. She still didn’t know what God was doing or how things were going to turn out, but she had a renewed confidence that there was a plan and He was going to reveal it to her. She just needed to do her best to be patient and accept whatever came.

Despite her newfound peace, she started to feel a little on edge as Jamie drove her to the church, wondering how Micah’s conversation with Jacqueline had gone. Was no message from him a good thing or a bad thing? Did he find out what she knew? Or was it a dead end and that’s why he hadn’t called or texted?

Micah was standing outside, talking on his phone when they arrived.

“I want to hear everything.” Jamie pulled up in front of the building. “Call me tonight if it’s not too late.”

“I’m sure I’ll be wiped out by then. Why don’t you come to my parents’ house for lunch tomorrow. One o’clock.”

“Okay.” She looked excited, probably at the prospect of seeing Duncan. “How are you getting home tonight?”

“Duncan’s dropping his car off at the reception for me.”

“All right. Have a great wedding.”

“You too.” Shannon waved as Jamie drove off, then hesitantly approached Micah, not wanting to interrupt his conversation, but anxious to know if he’d learned anything.

“I have to go,” he told whoever he’d been talking to.

“Anything from Jacqueline?” she asked.

“I’m taking care of it.” He looked serious.

“What does that mean?”

“I don’t want you to worry about it today, okay. Just focus on the wedding.” His eyes stopped on the equipment over her shoulders. “Hey, you got equipment!”

“Some really great friends hooked me up.”

The happiness showed on his face. “That’s amazing.”
