Jonathon

I waited all day for the wrath of my crimes to take me. I just didn’t know what form it would be in. Someone had in their possession a mountain of evidence to blackmail me, so I waited for them approach and make the deal.

I called in sick at my job as I’d rather be humiliated in private, if that was the plan of my blackmailer or whoever the thief was. I dressed in my finest suit, sat on my couch that overlooked Kingston Valley and watched the sun go down with a tumbler of the finest whiskey money could buy in my hand.

At 7.21pm the doorbell rang. “So, it begins…”

Peering through the peephole it was a face I least expected to see. I opened the door on the chain and shook my head at her. “Now’s not a good time.”

“Can we talk?” she asked.

“About what?”

Her icy eyes glanced about her before she answered, “About the contents in your safe.”

I smiled. I’d never been prouder of my heartless yet beautiful ex-girlfriend. “Sure.”

I opened the door wider for her to step inside. Her usual fragrance of frangipani and leather had never been more alluring. She wore a white pant suit, white lace blouse underneath and beige colored heels. So nice and clean.

The thought of scarlet splashes staining the purity of her clothes made me hard. The thought of seizing the adder and wrapping it around her throat and tugging until every last breath is expelled from her gorgeous mouth made me want to fuck her.

I took a step towards the hall with the intension of retrieving the rope, until she spoke the name “Bruno.”

“Huh?” It was very loud inside my head at that moment and I didn’t quiet catch what she said.

“I want to talk to you about Bruno.”

It all started to fall into place. “Let me guess, you and Bruno have been working together to dupe me. I have to know what exactly do you want in return for the contents of the safe?”

“Close, but no cigar.”

“I’m sorry?”

“You always assumed that Bruno was a man I was having an affair with.”

“And what exactly is he?”

“The name Bruno is my alias for Agent Delaney.”

I frowned. “I’m not with you.”

“Of the FBI. The case was handed over to the bureau a while ago, because Mathias couldn’t get anywhere within the restrictive canopy of the KVPD. Anyway, she discovered that the feds were already monitoring several players involved in the After Dark Club, including you, Jonathon. Or would you rather be called Dominus? I’ve been passing over information on you for quite some time. You’ll also be surprised to know that your father and my father were also a part of the operation as well as Gretta Nelson.”

I felt strangely calm, as if I knew this day would come. I just didn’t think the bullets would be fired out of the gun of Victoria. Yet, I felt neither pain nor anger at their betrayal because I deserved to be here.

“Art…Ollie and Benson Vanderbilt have already been arrested, and confessed to their roles in your kink killings and the After Dark Club.”

I listened as I watched the world go by through the tall windows. “The feds all across the states are currently chasing down all the names on the list on your USB stick. Apparently there are some big names on there.”

I drained my glass of whiskey and reached for the canister to pour another. “How much time have I got?”

She glanced at the watch on her slender wrist. “Two minutes at the most. I wanted to talk to you first because I felt like I owed you an explanation.”

“I can’t go to prison.”

“Jon, you murdered innocent girls, you can’t expect for this to go unpunished.”

I shook my head and drained the glass of whiskey one the last time. Under her curious gaze, I wiped the glass inside and out with a white napkin and placed the glass on the silver tray next to the crystal whiskey canister.
