“You love it,” I reply without thinking, and her eyes drift away, a smirk pulling at her lips.
“Mm, maybe.”
I reach down, my length growing hard just at the sight of her and say, “You know what I would do if I was there?”
“Tell me.” Her reply is breathy and sweet.
“I would—” Just then, the lock clicks on the door, and I hang up the phone, covering myself with the blanket with rapid speed, my heart ticking fast.
“Oh, hey, I thought you’d be out,” Lee says as he strolls into the room.
“Not yet,” I reply, clearing the strain from my voice and pulling up my texts.
I’m so sorry. Lee just walked in.
I wait for her text to come through, rolling my eyes at the time I spent whining about feelings. Why did I do that? I could have been doing something else.
But it was important and getting that shit off of my chest did feel good.
Still. Just… still.
LOL
I’m sorry too. It must be so hard to have a roommate.
I smirk at her smartass reply.
Only when my roommate’s name is Mick.

MICK
The door to the townhouse swings open with a flourish, and a tall man with golden skin and black hair down to his shoulders announces, “Well, if it isn’t the coach of the Vapors. Come to trade state secrets?”
Tanner rolls his eyes while I chuckle, and he gives my back a nudge as I enter the home. “You’re a piece of work, you know that?”
“I do, and so do you. It’s why you love me.” He gives Tanner his hand and eyes me from the corner of his gaze. “Thank God you brought someone else with you. I’d hate to have to stare at your ugly mug all day.”
I grin and reach out my hand. “I’m Mick.”
“Psh, a handshake? Any friend of Tanner’s is my competition.” He points a long finger at me. “We hug around here.”
He wraps his arms around me and lifts until my feet dangle off the ground. Not expecting that, I gasp in a laugh.
A gaggle of footsteps approach from somewhere behind me. “Uncle Tanner!”
After his friend, whom I know is Devon based on the information Tanner has given me, sets me down, I glance behind me to find Tanner down on his knees, his arms wrapped around two little kids who are laughing and giggling.
He stands, still holding the girl in one arm and the boy in his other. “Present?” The little boy holds out his hand, and Tanner looks over at me, a wide grin on his face.
It makes my heart pump in my chest to see it. “Your present is in that pretty girl’s hands.”
I lift the gift bag that Tanner had handed me when I got into his car, telling me he hadn’t seen his friends’ kids in months and had picked out the presents a few weeks ago just because he missed them.
Talk about ovaries exploding.
“Hey, are they here?” We hear a voice calling down from up the stairs. Devon smiles and yells back a confirmation.
