Delicious and interesting.

My heart picks up its pace the longer we’re like this.

There’s one thing I know for certain, I can’t get used to this.

I’m about to do something about that when a cell vibrating on wood breaks into my cherished moment.

I freeze.

Rocco jerks awake.

I start to move, but he tenses around me.

Lord, that feels good.

The cell vibrates again and again and again.

But he doesn’t move for it.

Finally, it stops. My heart is no longer just excited. It’s panicked. He’s awake and the only move he’s made is to keep me here.

I start to shift and whisper, “Rocco?—”

But I’m interrupted by the vibrating cell again. Whoever’s on the other side of the line isn’t in the mood for being ignored.

“Fuck,” he hisses in my ear.

Damn the caller. If they only knew they’re ruining my once-in-a-lifetime experience.

He still doesn’t make a move to answer the call or roll me off the bed.

Instead, his thigh bends my top leg higher, spreading my legs, and pressing into me everywhere.

“Morning.” His voice is low and groggy. I can’t control my heart, my quickened breath, or the wetness between my legs.

“Good morning,” I rattle too quickly.

The cell stops vibrating.

“That was better than sleeping on the sofa.”

“I guess.”

I feel him pull in a deep breath as his head angles down to mine. Against my hair, he mutters, “You prefer my sofa over my bed. That hurts my feelings.”

What I want to say is I just prefer him.

But his phone vibrates again.

“For fuck’s sake,” he mutters. He lets me go long enough to twist at the waist and tag his phone. The next thing I know, he clicks it on and tosses it on the bed in front of me.

“Hey, Landyn. What’s up?”

I let out a small gasp, but he presses his index finger to my lips to shut me up.

“It’s moving day!” I jerk when her screams of delight sound over the speaker. “And answer your phone when I call.”

“I’m talking to you, aren’t I?”
