But then again, it really was so sweet of him... almost like the old Kobe I once knew... and liked. He’d even had food delivered to my place to make that special breakfast for me.
Smiling, I grabbed my laptop off the top of my dresser and plopped down on my bed to open it. Before doing any kind of work, I checked my messages. I had a few uninteresting things of little consequence, but it was the one from Trent that I was eager to read.
Good morning, Katrina. Come to Ginger when you can. I have something you need to see.
My smile broadened just reading his message. I could almost hear his smooth, velvety voice. What did he have to show me? I was eager to find out and quickly sent him a response.
Sure thing. I have a few things to take care of here, and I’ll come over right after that.
He sent me another message; the quicker the better.
An electric thrill shot through my body. Yeah. No way I was going to get any work done now. I slammed the laptop shut and got up to go to my closet.
I considered putting back on the midi dress, but somehow, I felt that I didn’t need that degree of formality with Trent. After all, it would be just the two of us; no staff, no customers. Just Trent.
Just handsome, adorable, attentive Trent. Damn, I never thought a guy could look so good. He could easily be on the cover of GQ and yet he was so easy to talk to. I was sure he could get any girl he wanted; and he seemed to want me. I could hardly believe it.
I threw off my simple little t-shirt dress and put on a more mature yet still casual white lace dress that buttoned down the front, its fluffy skirt just barely coverer my knees. As an afterthought, I buckled a thin patent leather black belt around my waist. Teaming that with my black kitten heels and black handbag, I headed out and almost bumped into Kobe.
“Oh,” I said. “Kobe.”
“I... I was just going... I was just going to the bathroom.” He stood there, awkwardly holding his hands in front of him.
“You okay?”
“Sure.” He looked me up and down. “Kind of overdressed for working at home, aren’t you? Besides, I kind of liked that little red dress. Really cute and comfy.”
I let out a light laugh. “You should see my closet back home. It’s full of cute little numbers as well as things like this that are a little more... well, grown up.”
“Still, why the get up just to stay home?”
“As it turns out, I’ve got to go.”
“Go? Go where?” That angry scowl had quickly returned to his brow, but his awkward stance remained. “I thought we were going to work on the project from here.”
“Well, as it turns out, I’ll be working from Ginger instead.”
“Ginger? You mean with Trent?”
“Yes.With Trent.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Oh,” I said, rolling my eyes as I walked past him into the living area. With my fists on my hips, I turned to face him. “Here we go again. Kobe, I don’t want to have to go over this every time I go to Ginger.”
“I don’t care. I don’t want you to be alone with him.”
“I don’t care either, Kobe. I’m an adult. And you are far from having any kind of authority over me. If I decide I want to go and work with him, then I’m going to go out there and work with him. And that’s that.”
I turned to leave but he grabbed my hand and pulled me back.
“You’re not going.”
I finally saw the cause of his awkward stance and my jaw dropped. The outline of a severe hard-on was clear. His dick was as hard as an iron rod, a large iron rod. So that was what he’d been hiding behind his hands.
So, I did have an effect on him. I’d begun to think that he didn’t even see me, really see me. But it was too late. That hard-on meant nothing after all he’d done to me.
“I think you’re making a mistake if you get too close to him. He’s not right for you.”
