Page 41 of Angel

Bulldog let out a grunted cough while Cage and Angel exchanged a look that would have been humorous if they weren’t in such a weird situation. “Go to Steel’s office,” he told them. “I’ll bring Evette when she’s ready.”

From the tone of Bulldog’s voice, she better be ready right fucking fast or there would be even more hell to pay.

Angel took a step towards the door but then paused and looked back at Cage. She held out her hand to him.

Cage couldn’t move fast enough to take it. He seemed surprised by her faith in him, as well as relieved. Angel squeezed his hand in reassurance before they left the room together.

Ivy, of all people, was standing out in the hallway. She had one booted foot raised to the wall behind her and was filing her fingernails. “That one has a wicked tongue,” she warned them as they passed. “In more ways than one. Watch yourselves.”

Angel shook her head, not wanting the mental image of Ivy experiencing the pleasure of Evette’s ‘wicked tongue’.

Cage, on the other hand, had a look that said he was very much picturing it and very much enjoying said-picture. Angel scoffed at him and pulled her hand from his to slap him upside the head.

“Hey!” he protested.

Angel did not apologize, nor did she ask for one. Before they reached Steel’s office, Angel pulled Cage up short. “Do you have any idea what is going on?”

He shook his head. “All I know is that I’m not inside you right now and it’s pissing me off.”

Angel had to give him a sympathetic smile for that complaint, because she was honestly pissed about that too. “Yeah, I know the feeling. Let’s get whatever this is over with so we can remedy the situation.” She glanced down at herself and added, “Plus, I still need to shower.”

Steel, Lucky, and Bulldog stood on the far side of Steel’s desk. Evette sat in a chair with her legs crossed and her arms on the armrests like a queen on her throne. Cage was leaning against the starboard wall with Angel’s back to his front and his arms around her shoulders. He wasn’t sure which of them was holding the other back from strangling Evette.

“Why the fuck is this being brought to my office?” Steel demanded. “They’re all consenting adults. I don’t give a fuck who is sleeping with who.”

“Evette was in my room without my permission,” Cage told his president. “Beyond that, she’s claiming that I left her handcuffed to my bed for nearly three hours and that I just had unprotected sex with her.”

“Did you?” Steel asked him with that unrelenting gaze Cage couldn’t help but find intimidating.

“Fuck no,” Cage snapped. “I’ve been with Angel all afternoon.” Cage did not elaborate as to where the two of them were. Evette did not know about the cellar, plus Angel’s current state gave away where they had been.

Steel looked like he was getting a headache. He turned to Evette. “Why were you in Cage’s room without his permission?”

“I did have permission,” she told him with a coy smile. “Cage took me there after lunch. He fucked me, tied me to his bed, and then told me that he’d ‘be right back’. I had no idea that he’d forget about me.” She pouted.

“I’m not a fisherman,” Steel warned her. “Putting out your lower lip like that does not entice me in the slightest.”

Evette sat up slightly straighter and brought in her lower lip.

Bulldog stepped forward. “There’s also the matter that Cage swears he doesn’t own handcuffs. Yet the key to Evette’s handcuffs was on his keyring.” Bulldog dropped the keys Cage had willingly given him onto Steel’s desk.

Before Steel could ask why the keyring was important, Cage explained, “I have a lot of spare club property keys on that keyring, Steel. If someone was able to add a key to it, they might also have been able to make copies.”

Steel did not look happy with that fact. “When were your keys last out of your sight?”

“Honestly? I have no idea. They’re generally in my pocket or on my nightstand. I’ve been at Angel’s all week.” Cage did not like the idea that someone had snuck into Angel’s house to add that key to his keyring and possibly make copies of his keys.

Steel looked over his shoulder at Bulldog. “Have Keys pull up the last few hours security tapes. We don’t have cameras in the apartments but we do have one in the hallway. Let’s see who actually tied Evette to Cage’s bed.”

Evette, however, paled. “There’s a camera down there? I thought they were only in the main room.”

“We have many hidden cameras around.” Steel said the statement so evenly Cage had no idea if he was telling the truth or bluffing. “Would you care to amend your statement before we proceed?”

The Honey swallowed hard. She glanced to Cage, like she thought he might help her. Then she squared her shoulders and said, “No. I stand by my statement.”

Steel nodded once. “Have Keys pull the footage,” he told his SAA.

Bulldog barely had his phone out of his pocket before Evette shouted, “Wait!” She bit her lip as if debating on what to say next. “If I tell you everything, do I get to keep my job?”
