My head is splitting, and I let out a pained moan. “Der’mo she is waking up. Where is the bottle of chloroform? I think we left it at the house! Yebat’!11” I feel the vehicle pull over. It sounds like someone is rummaging through a bag. Then the door opens and someone exits.
The liftgate opens and while I still can’t see anything, something is covering my head. The man drags me by my ankle towards him.
“Net12,” I moan, unable to fight him off.
“I’m sorry about this,” and CRACK. The sound of his fist connecting with the side of my head is all I hear. I lose consciousness.
Someone dumps freezing water over my head, and it jolts me awake.
“Yebena mat’13!” I shout! I look around and I am in a dark room with no windows. My head is throbbing from the chloroform and the hit to the head. As I glance downwards, I realize I am firmly tied to a chair. Blood covers my shirt. I panic, thinking something is wrong with the baby. I fight against my bonds, trying to move the chair.
A voice from the dark speaks, “The blood is from the man you shot, and from being punched in the face.” The voice seems so familiar, but my mind is still hazy from whatever they knocked me out with. I stare into the dark where the voice came from.
“What do you want?” I yell, struggling with my hands that are bound behind me. The ropes bite into my wrists, burning.
“We are just making sure that your husband does exactly as he is told. The only way to do that is to take from him what he holds so dear. That would be you and the child you carry.”
The door to the room opens and for a moment, I pray it is moy lev14 coming to rescue me. Who meets my eyes is not my husband.
“Net,15” I gasp.
“Kalina, my beautiful daughter-in-law,” Igor crones, “It’s too bad you have to get caught up in this. Unfortunately, taking you and his child is the only thing I can do that will make my syn see reason.”
He leans over me. I stare at him with malice. “Did you think I would let my best killer just stop?” He reaches back and slaps me across my face, hard. Despite the throbbing pain in my face, I remain entirely silent. I want him to have no satisfaction in hurting me. I tilt my head to the side and I spit blood onto the floor. My hooded eyes glare at him.
“When your syn16 finds out it was you that took us, I would be terrified.” I laugh.
A deep, ominous laugh. “You must be stupid thinking you will get away with this! You’re as good as dead, Igor. Lenya will kill you. I just hope I am alive to watch you bleed out!”
Igor scoffs at my words. “Such sinful words coming from a Christian woman!”
“Trakhnut’sya,17” I spit blood in his face. He takes out a cloth and wipes it off his face.
“I see my syn18 has rubbed off on you. Quite the foul mouth you have now. Not worry, I think I know a way to cull that spirit of yours” Motioning to the darkness, where the voice came from.
Igor steps back, and the owner of the voice from the darkness comes into view.
“Kakogo cherta19! Ivan, what are you doing here?”
“Privet, Lina. Igor inquired about needing a doctor to make sure everything stayed okay for you and the baby. I offered my services for …a fee,” the smile that spreads across his face makes my stomach turn.
“Your husband shouldn’t have been so rude, and you shouldn’t have been so dismissive towards me.” Igor laughs at the door.
“Just remember, Ivan. She stays alive, and the baby lives. The rest is up to you. Although, I have a feeling I already know what you want to do with her.” I look back and forth between the men, shaking my head. I start screaming.
The fee he requested is me. My body. My childhood flashes across my mind. He couldn’t have me then but now I am at his disposal. Lord help me!
“Net20, you can’t do this…Don’t you fucking touch me!”
Igor continues to laugh as he closes the door behind him. I continue to scream as Ivan inches closer to me. He leans over me, smelling my hair. His hands graze over my breasts.
“Let me show you everything you have been missing, Lina. Let me show you all the ways I am better than your muzh21.”
