I stomp away but Parker’s next words pull me to an instant halt. “You going to give up that easy? Guess she was right; you really are immature.”

I know he’s just riling me up, but after that colossal clusterfuck, I’m feeling a little pissed. I know I’m good looking, I know I’m popular with the girls. No one has ever rejected me and I think that’s what pisses me off the most.

This chick comes into my school and acts like I’m not good enough for her. How can I not be good enough?

My mind ticks over, searching for the answer to this. The guys are staring at me with sympathetic faces so I put on a false bravado, “You’re right. Wouldn’t be much of a challenge if she went for it on the first attempt. I’ve got this. She’ll be sucking my cock before lunch.”

“Ten says he’ll be turned down again.” Jamie stage whispers to Parker.

“Ten says, I can get her to sit with me at lunch and give me a hand job under the table.” I snap back.

“Ok, I’ll take that bet. We’re all in on this now.” Parker pauses long enough for my brother and I to nod our heads. “Rules are the same as always, first to get to a hundred points wins, a kiss gets ten points, hand jobs are twenty,

“Blow jobs are twenty.” I add laughing.

“First to get her to fuck them gets fifty.” Jamie adds. “And a bonus fifty points if you can get her to agree to actually date you for the whole week.”

“Well, that counts you out Parker. I doubt Melody is going to let you date someone else.” I shove his shoulder again just to rub it in even more.

“Melody can go get fucked, I’m sick of the bitch, her threats are getting old.”

“You finally going to swallow that bullet?” I raise my brows, daring him.

“It’s our last year, who cares if she tells everyone.”

Well colour me shocked. Stubborn assed Parker actually willing to bear the wrath of Melody Conners. This I gotta see.

“Nah man, we agreed to keep that to ourselves. None of these pricks are gonna understand why we did it. They’ll all think its sick and twisted.” I silently agree with my twin, but I hope Parker’s serious, Melody is the biggest bitch around.

“Let them. I’m sick of being Melody’s minion.” Parker runs his hand through his spiked hair, his fingers getting caught in the sticky gel Melody forces him to wear.

Every time Melody so much as touches me I feel like I’m being molested, but Parker lets her do his hair for him every morning. I don’t know how Parker puts up with it. I’d lose my fucking marbles if I had to deal with her shit for more than a few hours.

“I can’t take her shit anymore.” Jamie agrees.

“The secret we hold isn’t worth the creepy feelings she inspires.” I add, crossing my fingers behind my back. Please let him be serious about this.

“I’m serious, Melody is gone. Nothing she says can make me change my mind this year. We’re going to enjoy our last year here then we’re going to go off to college and start our lives fresh.”

“Agreed.” My brother and I practically shout.

Elementals

GABRIELLA

Orientation just confusedthe fuck out of me. The student liaison’s all spoke over each other and in the end they all ended up shouting at each other. The teachers just stood by and let them all argue until the guy I assume is the principal stood up and yelled loud enough to make even the teachers jump but what had me finally paying attention is the fact that he didn’t just yell, he threw a blast of lightning into the air.

The smell of burning ozone and the feel of the static in the air left my jaw hanging wide open. There’s no way that was faked or some slight of hand. The entire orientation from then on was just a buzz in my ears. My mind still can’t comprehend that what I saw was real but now sitting in my first class, watching as students and the teacher wave their hands and make books and pens appear on their desks is some straight up sci-fi shit. I swear I’ve stepped out of reality and into one of those teen paranormal novels where the hero ends up battling scary douchebags who cannot be named for fear of bringing their wrath down upon the mere mortals.

“Settle down, I know you’re all excited to be back after the break but it’s time to learn. So everyone shut your mouths and get your asses in your seats.” For the third time today, my mind stutters to a stop.Did she just say asses? I mean that’s awesome but I always thought there was a no swearing clause in teachers contracts or something.

“As this is your final year, I’m not going to fucking sugar coat anything. You all know how to use your powers or you should by now, so let’s just jump right into things and get this first test over with so we can learn something new.”

Test?On the first day? Ok, it’s official, everyone in this school is certifiable.

I watch as she goes from desk to desk, dropping a packet of papers on each before moving on. As she gets nearer mine, my hands start to shake, I was never good at school, but a test on a subject I have no clue about is like putting a five-year-old in a seat and then handing them a SAT test and expecting them to pass.

I pull my timetable out of my pocket and stare at the subject name. Elemental Advancements. I still have no clue what the fuck it means. At first, I assumed it was some sort of science class, like learning the periodic table or something but as the teacher drops the packet of papers in front of me, I suddenly have my doubts.
