“Hmmm? Why?” Angelo asked, most of his attention focussed on wondering whether Vin might let him just stay inside him forever and explore every part of his mate he could reach with the hand that wasn’t trapped underneath him.

“Because your pack has been very patient and restrained, but we did drop a dead body outside their building and then make quite a lot of noise in a fairly communal space that usually has several sentries on it and they might want some answers at some point,” Vin said.

“Ourpack,” Angelo replied.

“What?”

“It’s your pack, too, now. Ours.”

“Oh,” Vin said.

He didn’t seem surprised so much as he’d forgotten that part and was just now noticing the thinner strand of connection between the two of them and Marco as Angelo’s Alpha. Angelo winced as a flare of dominance came from his mate, and then he let it go. Vin and Marco would have to sort out their relationship between themselves and it wasn’t likeMarco didn’t know what he was in for with the sassy vampire. The jealousy that thought had inspired mere days ago was a little less now that the mating bond was firmly in place and he knew there was no way anyone could come between them.

Vin twisted in his arms and pulled him into a kiss. “There was never anything to be jealous about there,” he said, sensing the direction of Angelo’s thoughts.

“Oh yeah? And you wouldn’t get weird around any ofmyexes?”

“He’s not an ex. He was a hook-up. And you don’t have any exes, either.”

“How do you know?”

Vin just raised an eyebrow at him before gently wriggling free from his arms. Angelo smirked as he watched his mate carefully prise himself off his only slowly deflating cock, his wolf very smug about how they’d tied their mate to them for so long and kept him full of their seed.

“Oh, that’s how it is, is it? Are you a caveman or a wolf? I’m totally using the spines again next time,” Vin snarked.

Angelo’s cock twitched, still hard, but he caught the distant sound of voices arguing before he could pull his mate close. Vin was right. His pack had discovered the body. Hell, they’d probably been there for a while. It’s not like he’d been capable of noticing anything before with the ridiculously romantic set-up and his desperation for his mate. The thought made him pause.

“Wait. How did you set all this up here without anyone trying to shoot you?” he asked.

Vin grinned as he shimmied his way back into his tight pants next to him. “Marco let me up and his brother helped.”

Angelo groaned and buried his face in the daybed. He hadn’t really thought this was going to escape anyone’snotice, but if his Alpha had helped orchestrate it, he wouldneverhear the end of it.

“You know you love it,” Vin said. “And they love you.”

How had his vampire already weaselled his way into the pack’s inner circle like he was family?

Probably because that’s exactly what he was now. Angelo blinked back an unexpected tear and looked up in surprise as Vin sensed his sadness and cupped his cheek to kiss him gently.

He had a family again.

And it wasn’t just Vin. It was the pack members he loved most who the vampire was dragging him firmly back into the orbit of when, for so long, he’d been slowly spinning further and further out into the cold of space.

“I loveyou,” he whispered against Vin’s lips.

CHAPTER 11: VIN

Vin smiledas he sat drinking his mimosa and watched his mate tussling in wolf form with Silas and Aria in the open space of land between the pack complex and their forest lands. Luca was sitting a small distance away, quietly watching on with an inscrutable expression on his face. The hacker was struggling to accept Angelo’s new bond, but he was doing a decent job of hiding it, so Vin didn’t mind as long as he didn’t make his mate sad.

Vin smiled as he waited to see when the Alpha lingering in the shadows behind him would give up his silent stalking and approach, but it had been a good ten minutes so far. They hadn’t had a chance to speak alone since he’d bonded with his Angel two days earlier. Mostly because this was the first time they’d emerged from their bedroom.

It hadn’t taken Vin long to figure out how to use his vampire powers to screen the pack bond that had formed between him and the Alpha so Marco couldn’t get a read on him. He knew it must be pissing him off. Would it be a deal-breaker for him? There wasn’t much he could do if Marco made him choose between staying in the pack and keepinghis privacy, but he hoped it wouldn’t come to that. There was nothing that could make him leave his Angel.

“I know you’re there, Sugar,” he called softly to the Alpha. “Are you trying to hunt me?”

Marco huffed and stepped closer on silent feet to settle on the blanket Vin had stretched out across the grass. It was black velvet, and it felt delicious against his legs that were bared by the skirt he was wearing. He might picnic with a bunch of shifted wolves, but he still had standards.

“Just trying to figure you out, Vin.”
