I bite back my own groan as my cock throbs behind the seam of my sweatpants. I can only imagine what they look like right now. Fuck. I need to get laid. It’s been so long that even sex noises are turning me on. “Enjoy. We’ll try this again later. When there are no temptations around,” I deadpan and set my controller on the desk.

“Deal. I’ll text you guys the next time I’m free. Enjoy, Randy!” Landon chuckles again and signs off.

“Don’t be mad at me because I’m the only one that can even get pussy,” Randy chokes out another moan before signing off, leaving me alone in the silence.

I palm my cock through my pants and shut my system down. I really need to get out more. If Randy can find someone like Holly then surely I can manage? I’m decent enough to look at, right? My head falls back against the chair as I slip my hand underneath my waistband and give my length a few slow pumps. “Fuck,” I sigh and spread the drops of precum leaking out with the pad of my thumb.

Just as I start to move my hand up and down faster my door flies open and Declan storms in. “Get dressed, we just got a call.” His deep voice rumbles through the room.

“Jesus Christ, dude!” I nearly jump out of my skin and tear my hand away from my dick. I spin my chair and glare at my twin darkening my doorway. His blond hair is gelled and styled, spiked at the front and smooth along the back, and his green eyes flash with annoyance.

“Come on, Silas, seriously. What are you, fourteen?” He sneers and folds his tattooed arms across his chest, muscles flexing slightly. “You’re literally one of the best hackers in the country and you’re in here jerking off and playing video games like a teenager?”

“What I do with my free time is absolutely none of your fucking business,” I snap and push to my feet. “And don’t pretend like you weren’t in the shower last night rubbing one out either! The walls are not soundproof.” He rolls his eyes but doesn’t deny it. “What call? Where’s Hayden?” I prompt and strip down to my boxers.

“He’s next. Get dressed. There’s someone we need to visit at the hospital.” He doesn’t say anything further and disappearsdown the hallway as I pull on my dark wash jeans and worn, navy MIT hoodie. I’m still pulling my arms through my hoodie as I make my way down the hall to where he’s standing in front of Hayden’s closed bedroom door.

There is a faint thumping followed by a very girly giggle. Declan’s fist pounds on the door three times before he twists the knob and shoves the door open. “Time for work, lover boy,” Declan snaps and turns to leave without looking into the room. “We’ll be in the kitchen ready to leave in five minutes.”

My eyes narrow on the curvy redhead currently straddling Hayden and trying to cover herself with his dark gray sheet. I clench my jaw and look away, trying not to meet his eyes. Hayden flexes his arms before putting his hands behind his head. The very picture of ease. “Alright, Cherry, time to go.”

“But what about me?” she whines as he shoves her off and climbs out of bed. He is naked and hard as he walks into his closet to get dressed.

“I’m sure you’ll be just fine,” I mutter and grind my teeth, fighting the urge to drag her out of the room by her hair. I hate the strays that he brings home to fuck. They all ooze desperation and obsession.

“I’ll call you later!” Hayden calls dismissively as Cherry pulls on her tight blue dress and silver pumps. He most certainly will not be calling her later, and by the hard glint in her eyes she knows it too. With one final hair flip, she shoves past me and disappears.

Hayden comes back out in his signature black-on-black suit and runs his fingers through his messy brown hair. His eyes sparkle with mirth as he digs his elbow lightly into my ribs while adjusting his cuffs. “Declan got us both again, didn’t he?”

I just roll my eyes and shove his shoulder as we head to the kitchen to debrief. “Come on, Hades, we have work to do.”

Yes, I live with my brother and my best friend. Yes, we also work together. No, we don’t have social lives that allow for long term friends and girlfriends. Yes, I know how lame I am on so many levels.

Chapter 4

Hayden

“Are you fucking serious? No one is going to buy this shit.” I shift back and forth in front of the full-length mirror in the locker room that Silas got us into. The navy scrubs are a tight fit along my muscled thighs and biceps. “I feel like if I flex, I’m going to rip right through them.”

Declan chuckles beside me and hands me a light gray scrub cap and a stethoscope. “Good thing you aren’t here to pick up ladies. It’s not like you’re going to be kickboxing your way down the hallway. Just walk in, do your job, and then walk out. It’s easy. You know the target?” he asks and folds his arms across his chest. He’s still wearing his suit. Lucky bastard.

“Remind me again how I got elected to be the Ken doll to dress up?” I huff and pull at the tight fabric. Who the hell can wear this all day long and not feel claustrophobic? This fabric is not forgiving, and my boys are losing circulation by the minute. I feel like the seams are about to tear at any moment.

“You took a gamble. You lost the game. Those are the rules we play by. Grow a pair and get over yourself. We have a job to do and then you can go do what you do best,” Declan says dismissively and waves me towards the door. “Silas wasn’t ableto get you card access since this was so last minute. Do you have a plan?”

I nod once and push the heavy door open, leaving Declan standing alone in the locker room. The solid black medical clogs squeak with each step as I make my way down the hallway. For a hospital, it’s very empty and very quiet. Where are the screaming patients, the shouting medical personnel, the emergency sirens? It feels too sterile.

What exactly is my plan? I don’t actually fucking know. I just said that so Declan would shut up and leave me to my work. I never walk into these situations with a plan. It always just happens. I usually just let the fates decide and let the chips fall where they may. Who needs an actual plan anyway?

The hallway cuts to the right and up a small ramp before ending at a set of heavy metal doors with thick glass rectangular windows. I can just make out an empty nurse’s station on the other side of the doors, but it doesn’t seem busy there either. Just as well, the fewer people that see me the better. My fingers close around the cold metal of the door handle, and I pull gently, trying to avoid the squeak of metal if possible, but the doors don’t budge.

“Fuck me,” I mutter as my eyes land on the black card scanner. Who needs a fucking plan? Me, apparently. I should have thought about this. I pull out my cellphone and open the chat to just me and Silas. No need to include Declan in on my obvious lapse in judgment today.

The blue dots pop up at the bottom of the screen as he types but they disappear again after a few seconds. They don’t reappear. That ass hat better not leave me hanging. We’re all on the line with this job. My phone vibrates in my palm with an incoming call. I pull it to my ear and grunt in greeting.

“No I cannot just buzz you through, you idiot. I had twenty minutes to prepare for this entire thing and that is not enough time to hack into a hospital main frame. It’s dead in there because you are at the back of the building where the financial offices are. You’re going to have to come back outside and go around the building and go through the front doors.” I can hear the frustration in his voice, and it twists my stomach.

“I’m not waltzing through the front doors. I will find a different way,” I snap quietly and grind my teeth.
