“Don’t stop. God, please don’t stop.”
But he did. She could have held her wrist out to him if it wasn’t so damn heavy. She could have closed her eyes and settled into the sweet heat of him beside her, but Seth moved and was above her, peering down.
“Your eyes,” she managed to say. “They’re …” What? Alive, gold and yellow and god knows what other colours swirled in them. The green changed to deep blue as she watched him. Everything in his eyes became a fluid wave of colour. She tried to lift her hand to touch his face, but her arm was too heavy.
Seth caught it and she thought he was going to bite her again, but instead of biting her the way he had done before, he put his mouth to her wrist, covering the two small wounds. The feel of the skin knitting itself together was the strangest feeling she’d ever had. It was sharp and nipped, but at the same time pleasant. She felt her mind uncurl. The very action of him healing her wrist, brought her back to her mind, to control and focus.
“Did you take enough blood?” Her words came out as a slur, but better than before. At least he seemed to understand her.
“Yes.” He kissed her arm, kissed along the healing wound and then brought her arm to rest on his lap. “I feel it. The sun. It’s there, outside, pulsing, but it does not call me like it did before. It is a silent whisper against my skin. “
She watched him, the way he sat, the way he held himself, the expression on his handsome face as he spoke. He knelt next to her, his bare chest just mere inches away from her. This time she did give into her want and touched him. Only lightly, her fingers tracing across the light smattering of hairs. She reached the edge of his throat where the hair gave way to stubble.
“You should go back to your room, Payton. Before I do something, I will regret.”
A frown. “You will regret touching me?”
“No. Never. But I will regret afterwards.” He paused, took her hand from his chest, but held it rather than let it go. “There are so many things beyond your comprehension, things I cannot tell you.”
“What things?”
“Just things.” He looked away from her, eyes on the door, then he sighed.
“I guess I’ll go back to my room then.” Her body was still heavy when she moved, but she forced herself, sat upright, swung her legs off the side of the bed. She went to get up, but Seth grabbed her arm.
Her heart thudded. “I don’t understand.”
He met her gaze, his eyes a dark shade of gold now. “Me either.” He cupped her face, turning her so she had to face him, then he kissed her. Kissed her like the night before. Kissed her more than the night before. Kissed her so deeply she had to hold onto him so not to fall back and lose herself. But the moment his mouth had come to hers, her body awakened from the calm it had just found. She gasped when he gave her a slight reprieve.
“Seth.” Her voice was a whisper, floating away from her. His face was close enough to hers the only thing she could really see was his eyes. So dark now, so filled with wanting.
“Lie back.”
“You said you’d regret it.”
He nodded at her, nipped at her lower lip. “I do not care.” He pushed her back and came to lean over her. His mouth found hers again, his tongue swept in with no remorse. But still, she opened more for him, hungry against his skin. He kissed at her mouth until she thought she’d have to ask him to stop, and moved along her jaw, down the line of her throat.
“You have too many clothes on,” he said. “Take them off.”
She swallowed hard at his words, but still tried to move so she could do as he said. There was no control over her body with him so near to her. She wanted to reach up and wrap her arms around him, pull him down. But his hand moved along her until he found the knot that held her robe together. With ease, he opened it, pushed back the material and left her bare to him.
She’d been naked in front of him before, but this was different, vulnerable. “You’re shaking,” he said, his hand inching inside her robe.
“Sorry. I …” Had only been touched by Creven, by his friends. She had never had a lover’s touch before. But she didn’t say that. Instead, she pushed that thought away, pushed Creven away because he didn’t deserve a place in her mind in this moment. She sank her fingers into the dark strands of his hair. "Nothing."
She didn’t care right then. The possessiveness in his gaze was enough to make her shiver, but this time, the way her body trembled was nothing to do with her fear, and everything to do with his hands on her as he cupped her breast, squeezed it to bring the nipple to his mouth and clamped his teeth around it. The tips of her breasts tightened into hard peaks, and he let out a sound almost feral as he sucked one deep into his mouth.
Arching her back, she cried out. “Oh, God.” She tightened her hand in his hair as electricity shot from the sensitive nubs of her breast all the way down to the centre of her. Sheer pleasure rode her with the delicious feel of his mouth on her body. She never wanted him to stop.
Without lifting his head, he trailed his lips from one breast to the other, nibbling and flicking his tongue along the delicate flesh. Jolts of electricity shot through her with each devouring pull, making heat pool at her core.
When he moved down her body, it was instinct that had her opening her legs for him to kneel between them. His mouth drove her crazy, playing along her skin, nipping, kissing, biting and god knows what else as he moved down.
He squeezed her hips when his mouth was just inches away from where she so desperately needed him to be. This was it, being taken the way she was supposed to be, the way someone was supposed to do without hurried perversion.
Seth peered up at her with a devilish look in his eyes, and then he dipped his head, pulled the delicate folds of her skin back and ran his tongue along the core of her.
Her back came off the bed instantly at his touch. She was on fire with it, every nerve in her body alive and sending signals, going haywire in a blur of hot pleasure through her body. She bit on her lip, tried to clutch for the bedsheets, for him, for anything that would somehow keep her grounded.
