“Why don’t you join me in the shower, and we’ll eat after?”

He slowly pulled out of me, and I felt just a little hollow without him inside me.

“If I join you in the shower,” he replied, “we’ll never eat.”

Yeah, I knew that.

I spun to face him once he’d pulled out and crashed my lips back to his. I slid my body against his, savoring the delicious feel of slick flesh against flesh, and his cock twitched. Even after all of that, he was still roused.

“I may be hungry,” I purred, “but I don’t want you to stop touching me and making me feel wonderful.”

He gave a throaty chuckle. “Your call.”

So, my grumbling stomach was forgotten as we slipped into a very steamy shower, where we got clean… then dirty, then clean again until the hot water ran out.

He gathered a few bits of food on a tray after the shower, and we lounged on his bed, naked and taking turns nibbling on each other and the food until it was time for me to go.

Except I didn’t want to leave.

Fen was so caring and sweet and hot and sexy and… everything! And I knew home would be a mess. As much as Melinoe had been living within the terms we’d agreed on, her just being there was wearing on everyone. Her madness had subtly seeped into all of us. And with Eva’s outbursts and violence, which also seemed to be affecting the whole household, it was pure chaos.

“I don’t want to go,” I whispered to Fen, feeding him a grape.

“I think Grey and Ramsey might complain if you stayed here forever.” He fed me a small piece of strong cheese which melted in my mouth.

I sighed. Yeah, I had to consider those two as well. Grey was looking haggard, not sleeping well, if at all. Ramsey… I didn’t want him anywhere near my house. His conflict aspect would only make things worse.

Still, I couldn’t stay here forever.

We dressed and I mourned the loss of that lacy bra, even if I didn’t regret how it had been destroyed. Then Fen drove me home in his sleek Porsche.

Even just sitting on the street, outside my place, I could feel the turmoil and animosity from within.

“Fuck,” Fen whispered. “That’s… intense. Sorry you have to go home to that.”

So was I.

We kissed, lightly, gently, his lips speaking all of his feelings for me. I knew he loved me, even if he’d never said it. I hoped — given the start he’d given me on figuring out who I was — that I might soon be able to reciprocate those feelings.

Then I got out and trudged back into the warzone.

RAMSEY

I wasin a foul mood as I walked into my uncle’s office. Ana had just called and delayed our night together…again. She claimed things at home were rough and she was exhausted. Yeah… exhausted by Grey most likely. I hated that he lived with her now. Sure, his room was in the basement, but still, if a few flights of stairs were all that separated me from Ana, I’d be in her room every night!

“Ramses. Sit.” My uncle’s deep, dominant voice tore me from my thoughts, and I closed the door to his office behind me and found a chair.

“Why did you call me here, Osiris?” I asked, watching the large form of the man opposite me.

A large frame, with wide, heavy shoulders was a hallmark of our family, and Osiris was the personification of the perfect, dominating man. He was a god in truth, no mere daemon, with aspects of rulership, death, rebirth, fertility, and agriculture. He was the king of the Egyptian pantheon and when he called, you came… which is why I was here. Though, I didn’t really know why I was here other than that.

“I’ve felt a disturbance among the dead,” Osiris rumbled in a heady bass voice. “Those already within the confines of the underworld are well, but those who linger… are restless.”

I shrugged. None of my aspects had anything to do with the dead. “And?”

Osiris’s dark eyes bored into me, his face a scowl of scorn at my indifference.

“And,” he growled, “a restlessLord ofStrife, isn’t helping matters in the least!”
