I stepped out from my quick shower and found Ramsey, still a mess, covered in his own cum, standing there, grinning.
“You can’t touch me until you’ve cleaned off,” I warned him. I edged around him, his gaze following me. “Go! Clean up!”
“I can feel it,” he whispered. That made me pause. “Your pain. I can feel it.” His hand went to his nipple then his cock. “I think… that worked. Thank you.”
“Even if it didn’t, you have fun things to play with later,” I told him.
“Yeah,” he said with a wicked grin, his cockiness returning. “Later…”
“Yes, later, shower now!” I slipped out of reach as he laughed and stepped into the shower.
“I’ve brought an assortment of clothes for you,” Grey said when I emerged from the bathroom.
He’d laid out several possible outfits across the desk at the far end of his large basement room, and I selected a pair of black, low-rise, hip-hugging jeans, a purple, long-sleeved T-shirt, and my other leather jacket. The nice black one had been torn to shreds by Fen and Ramsey earlier. This one was a dark red bolero-cut. It wouldn’t keep my midriff warm, but it looked amazing clinging to my chest.
“What do you think? Am I ready to fight zompires?” I twirled for Grey and Fen who were already cleaned up and ready to go.
“Hel, yeah!” Fen said.
“No, you’re not going out there,” Grey replied.
Fen and I stared at him.
“We all know you’re no warrior,” Grey rumbled.
“He’s right!” Ramsey yelled from the bathroom.
“I can heal, and I’m sure there are a lot of people out there who might need that. Even you three might need it after a while,” I huffed. “I’m not going to lose you or let people suffer, not if I can help.”
Truth be told, I was terrified to go. Well… mostly terrified. There was this tiny part of me that really desperately wanted to join the guys and be out there in the fray.
“If we’re with her, we can protect her,” Fen said stoically. Leave it to my gorgeous Norse demi-god to defend me.
Grey’s void swirled in his eyes and seemed to swell and deepen.
“Correct me if I’m wrong,” he bit out. “But didn’t the Norse Gods mostly keep you out of their fights and wars because they were worried you might accidentally start Ragnarök?”
“Well…”
“Which means you’re sorely lacking in actual battle experience. It also means you don’t know what it’s like in the chaos of battle. We may intend to stay close, but I can almost guarantee that won’t happen. And how will you feel if Ana is separated from us and killed by those abominations?”
Fen hedged. “I… I’ll… I… fuck!” He growled and turned away.
It didn’t matter. “I’m going,” I stated evenly.
Grey tried to stare me down and with his void, he was truly fearsome, but I didn’t cave. I faced that all-consuming, soul-sucking vacuum in his eyes with my own stalwart determination.
“I’m going,” I repeated, my voice firm.
Grey growled. “Fine, but if we tell you to run, you run. If we tell you to stay, you stay. Got it? I can’t concentrate on the battle if I’m worrying about your safety.”
I nodded.
He accepted that.
Ramsey finished his shower and dressed. Since he didn’t have any of his own clothes here, he had to wear Grey’s… which didn’t quite fit him, stretching over his hulking frame and making him look even bigger than he was.
We went up to the main floor, and I was surprised to find Eva and Trent making out at the bottom of the stairs.
