Eva swiveled off Trent, falling onto the couch next to him with a great smile and heaving breaths, while Trent was flushed, wearing a silly grin.
“Eva, it seems you feel the same way for Trent?” I supplied.
“Oh, yeah,” she breathed, coming down from her sex-high. She looked at him and they locked eyes again. “He’s right. Before what we had was good, but it wasn’t…deep. But any man who’d follow me through a day like yesterday. That’s the man for me.”
“I hope that never happens again,” Trent said softly.
Even Eva nodded. “It was pretty intense and scary as fuck, but… I think I’m going to seek out more of that, sorry.”
I felt their tenuous love tremble in that moment.
“Oh?” I asked.
Eva looked at me. “I think…” She laughed. “I’ve never really known what I wanted to do with my life, but I think I do now. I did a little research this morning. I want to enroll in an officer’s training program at college. I’ll need to finish some high-school courses I missed or get my GED or something, but I want to join the army, or navy, or… something.” Trent looked a little dismayed at this. She turned to him. “You can be my house-husband and work on the bases, fixing their trucks or something.”
“I really like my little motorcycle shop, though.”
Eva nodded. “I know. We’ll talk and figure it out.” She leaned in for a quick kiss, then ran a hand through his hair. “Don’t you worry, my Fifty-Cal, we’ll make it work.”
“Fifty-Cal?” I couldn’t help but ask. That was an odd nickname.
Eva smiled at me. “Yeah, I’ve got a thing for guns and a fifty-caliber is one of the largest out there, and… so is Trent’s cock. Why do you think I stayed with him so long? Whenever he comes it feels like he’s blasting me open down there.”
I didnotneed to know that.
Trent gave an I’m-a-manly-man grin. “Is that really what it feels like?”
“Hell, yeah!”
“Oh. I love you, Eva!”
“Love you too, Fifty-Cal.”
They kissed for a moment, and their love swelled again. I got the feeling theirs would be a rocky relationship, but I also felt like it would work out.
“Great,” I said, and they drew back from each other at my words. “Eva, can I speak to you alone?”
Trent nodded, kissed Eva one last time, then went back upstairs.
“Is this goddess business?” Eva asked.
“Yeah, I wanted to tell you more about your aspects of sex and war and how to control them.”
That… took all afternoon, but by dinner, I felt like she had a good grip on things and could develop on her own from there.
Trent had gone out for the afternoon, visiting his sister, and he’d brought her with him when he’d returned, figuring she’d be safer here, since her abusive husband might be able to track her back to Trent’s garage.
Fen and Ramsey joined us for dinner that evening and when Trent spoke about his sister’s plight, Ramsey said he’d help her out with all the legalities and make her jerk-of-a-husband pay through the nose when they divorced.
Harmonia was conspicuously absent at dinner, but she sent a text saying she was still confirming her theory and might stop by later.
Which meant I had an evening to myself… with my guys… and after all that had happened, I wassogoing to take advantage of that. So, after dinner had been cleaned up, the four of us went to Grey’s room for some… fun.
ANAIS
I closedthe door behind us and leaned against it. There was something I needed to address before we began.
“Ramsey, you should know: I’m pregnant. It’s yours. I’m going to have it, and you’re going to do more than your fair share to raise it. None of these things are up for debate.”
