Reia thought for a second, then replied, “Raspberry cheesecake. The sweetness of the raspberries with the smooth and silky texture of the cheesecake is heavenly.” She gave a contented smile and sighed.

“Now, imagine that, only ten times as pleasurable. Also, it’s filling your entire body, not just your mouth… Well, it could be filling your mouth… but… ah… yeah, ignore that. It makes you shake and shiver with delight and you never want it to end. I’d say that’s good sex.”

“Oh… wow… really?”

“Yup.” But I figured there was a fairly large proviso that went with this. “But… most guys, especially ones at your age, and even some older ones, aren’t as concerned about blowing their partner’s mind as they are with blowing their… ah… their own minds.”

Reia grimaced. “Yeah, exactly! How can a girl find a good guy?”

I sighed. “Well, I was horrible at that for a very long time. But I can say a few things with certainty that I wished I’d realized when I was your age. First, don’t just date a guy because he’s hot and he says a few nice things to you. It’s easy enough for any guy to fake being nice just to get into your pants.”

She nodded and her fingers twitched as if she wanted a pen so she could take notes.

“More than what they say, notice what they do, how they treat you and others. They need to… ah… well, they need to worship you. Oh, and it may seem obvious to you, but there is a huge difference between sex and love. A guy can give you great, mind-blowing sex and still not love you. In summary: any guy can say he loves you, but it’s only the special ones who show it in everything they do, who respect you enough to treat you like a… well, a goddess.”

Reia nodded. “Sounds pretty fucking rare.”

“It is. Which is what makes love so special when you find it. Talk to Eva and Trent sometime. I think they’ve finally found their match. They might have some insights.”

“And… what do I do until I find the right guy?” she asked a bit sheepishly. At least she wasn’t blushing so deeply anymore.

“You have a couple options. Vibrators are your friend. I have a whole bunch you can try—”

“Mom!” Reia was instantly beet-red again.

“What? Most of them I haven’t even used. And good cleaning is a must for sex toys, so…yeah.” I sighed, knowing I’d pushed the limit for her right now. “If that’s not your thing, you can just go ahead and experiment with guys.”

Reia scrunched up her nose. “Like have random sex with some guy?”

“Notsomeguy.Aguy whoyou’vechosen who strikes your fancy. It doesn’t have to be forever. You can just date and have some fun. Just make sure you’re on the pill and they’re using condoms.”

I stood and put the yogurt back in the fridge and our spoons in the sink. “That’s actually a good gauge of asshole versus not asshole. If they’re willing to wear a condom for you, that’s one step toward respect. Also, if you’re going the fun route, don’t commit too much of your heart. Just… have some fun and see what you like. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. Trial and error isn’t perfect, but it helped me figure out what I liked and didn’t. Just… like I said… be careful.”

Reia nodded.

“If neither of those options appeal,” I added, “well, your fingers can still be quite stimulating. As with the other options, practice makes perfect.”

Reia kept nodding. “Maybe, I’ll stick with that for now.”

We sat in silence for a long moment before Reia asked, “Did that help you figure out anything?”

That was Reia for you, deftly turning the whole conversation around, back to where we’d started: my life goals.

“Hunh… I think it might have, yes,” I said. “I think I might want to help the less fortunate… but specifically those who are less fortunate in love. I could be a sex-ed teacher, or love-life coach, or…” Another idea occurred to me which Iloved. “I could help women get out of bad relationships and into good ones, or even just help them love themselves and move on from there. I can use my war aspect to deal with the dickhead men in their lives, then help them find a new path and hopefully true love in the process!” Something about that really seemed to hit home for me.

Reia smiled. “Sounds like you’re excited about that.”

“I… think I am. Though I have no clue how to do any of that.”

Reia laughed. “You’ll figure it out. If there’s one thing we Baker women do well, it’s striving toward our goals and achieving them.”

That was very true.

Baker women…

Something about that reminded me… “Oh, hey, I should tell you. You’re going to be a sister all over again… to triplets.”

Reia’s brilliant blue eyes went wide. “Again? More kids?”
