Page 89 of Craving Her Vampire

“Are you under control?” Ryker asks.

“Yes,” Rowen answers.

“No, no, no,” Turner screams. Micah starts to move, and metal rings out. I drop my head to his shoulder and close my eyes.

“I love you, mate,” I whisper as the tension leaves my body.

My deadly vampire will keep me safe.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Micah

Ilove you, mate.

Her words repeat in my ears as I carry her outside. My heart is steady now that she is in my arms. She fell asleep easily once she finished what she started. I look around the yard; everyone came.

Carter and Turner were easily captured. They weren’t expecting the crew who showed up at their door. They had no idea Daisy had so many friends willing to take her back in her fight. I didn’t explain my role in her life as we controlled them despite their demand to do so.

I look back once I’m outside. A fucking castle. It will be the last walls they will see.

I thought I was too late when Daisy wasn’t in sight. I questioned my assuredness of her blood. Instinctively I knew she was alive, but until I saw her with my eyes and smelled her scent, I felt fear. I don’t feel fear often. The last time was whenMaddy was missing. I didn’t want to fail another woman in my life.

Carter had five men working with him. They were killed quickly, and we didn’t need everyone’s help, but the thought was nice. Saphira was eager to go with Bash to secure them in the dungeon at the club, but I should have known Daisy would have other ideas.

“Is she alright?” I look at the small woman with Daisy’s eyes.

“She will be,” I reply.

She touches Daisy’s hair. “Thank you.”

“For what? Daisy did the rescuing.”

“For loving her,” she says. “Tell her not to worry. We will have time to get to know each other later.”

“Quinn, the bear shifter, will take you to an apartment. Anything you need will be provided. Liam will be going with you.” Quinn appears behind her. “Carter will be dead soon.” Daisy’s mom deserves the truth, to be at ease that he is contained. She nods and tears up.

“I haven’t slept in a bed for years,” she whispers, dropping her hand. Years of her agony are shadows in her eyes.

“I don’t expect it to be easy to get used to again,” I whisper back. “Take it one minute at a time. You don’t have to be okay. No one expects you to.” Liam hobbles next to his mom.

“She feels guilt,” he says, nodding at Daisy. “Tell her we love her.”

“I will,” I assure him. She is going to be pissed she slept through their words. “You will be in my building. When she is ready, she will visit.”

“She was always fierce. It seems she found a mate to match,” Liam says, putting his arm around his mother and allowing Quinn and Heath to assist them to the SUV.

Liam underestimates his own fierceness. He has made it through hell, along with his mother.

“Ready, vampire,” Sally says, breaking into my thoughts.

“Ready,” I say, following her to the car she pulled close. I hold my mate tight as I sink into the passenger seat. As Sally starts the car, I nod toward the window at our friends, helping the remaining shifters into vehicles. I’m still amazed at their willingness to put themselves in danger and their dedication to the little family they formed. I suppose I am a part of the group now. I am grateful Daisy found her family, real and chosen.

“She finished it,” Sally says quietly. I’m sure she heard most of it.

“She did.”

“Your mate is a badass,” Sally says, and I look at her. Someone found her a shirt. Shifters usually aren’t shy; being naked is natural, and Sally is no exception. As a friend, I can admit she has nothing to be shy about. As a mate, I didn’t stare.
