Lex jumps up and runs outside after her. "Kara!"

"What?" she asks, whipping around to face her.

"What was that?"

"I'm going to find out the truth, and I'm going to do whatever it takes. Just like you would."

The door of her car slams shut, and Lex watches her pull out of the parking lot. "What the fuck does that mean? And how did I get pulled into this?"

Chapter Eleven

Summerville

Hannah

Hannah sits in the clubhouse, and she looks around at the various club bunnies waiting for someone to call them to warm their bed for the night. Dove had been on Rocky's lap when she walked back into the building for the first time in years, and she can't stop herself from wondering whether Rocky spent all his nights with her or spread it around to the others. Do all the club bunnies know what his cock looks like?

"Hey, baby," Rocky says, sliding into the seat next to her. "How's the party?"

"It's a party," she says. "Been to thousands of them before. Nothing really special happening here tonight."

His face falls, and she knows she's being cruel. He just doesn't understand, and worse than that, he doesn't want to. No questions about how she's feeling or why she cut him from her visitors list.

"Do you want to leave?"

Yeah, I want to leave. I want to leave Summerville and this fucking club behind, but I have no means to do so."Whatever you want to do is fine."

"Hannah-"

"Was Dove the go-to for you?"

His hand rests on hers. "What?"

"When I was locked up, was Dove the woman you spent your nights with? Or did you also spend time with Cherry and Greta, too?"

"Why are you asking this?" he asks, pulling his hand away.

"Because I want to know, Rocky. I need to know."

He sighs. "It was just Dove."

"And was it every night?"

"I'm not doing this, Hannah."

"It was. Okay, that makes sense. Did you bring her back into my bed?"

"Of course not!"

He sounds outraged, but it doesn't mean he didn't bring her home with him. "Do you still want her?"

"No!" Rocky says and takes her hand again, tugging slightly to force her to look at him. "You're home, Hannah. You're the one I love, and you're the only one I want. Dove just filled a void when you were gone. That's all it was."

"Okay."

"Why are you doing this? You've been distant and pushing me away ever since you got home."

Is he serious? "I was in prison for over two years, Rocky."
