She smiles and nods. "He reminds me of one of my best friends. Plus, only the craziest of crazies are clean shaven. He's the one called to take on the dangerous shit."

"You like loners."

"I'm known for taking in strays, I guess. That's what Jennings says. Jennings is the President-"

"Griffin's Beach. Yeah, I know."

Looking over at Colt, Lex sees the bedroom eyes as he stares hard at her. "You know, I think I might have to take off. We have kids at home, and you know how it is."

Colt walks over, never breaking eye contact, and he says, "Ready to go, baby?"

His low and husky voice makes her bite her lower lip. "So ready."

"They're getting it on tonight!" Everlee shouts. "Get it, girl."

"Summerville's Melanie," she says to Colt as he lifts an eyebrow.

"Who knew there could be two of them?" he asks, walking her outside. Instead of heading to their bike, she tugs his hand and forces him to look at her. "What's wrong?"

Pulling him further into the shadows in a corner where the building extends, she smirks. "I can't make it home."

"Fuck, I love you," he murmurs, yanking his pants down as she does the same. "Need my leather?"

Her hand feels the wall before she places both hands on his shoulders. "Up." He picks her up, letting her wrap her legs around his waist, and she sinks down onto him. "The building won't create that much of an issue. Fast and hard, baby."

"Goddamn, you're ready," he pants as he presses her against the building, his hips moving as directed.

She knows it won't take long for her to see stars, and she bites his shoulder to muffle her moans. The last thing she needs is the audience Everlee offered earlier while she finds her release.

Chapter Three

Summerville

Kara

Kara Gallagher sits on her boyfriend’s lap as she watches the new girl, Lex, walk out with her husband.

"What do you think about them?" Kara asks Chance.

"They seem like good people," Chance says, his nose nuzzling her ear.

Giggling, she lifts her hand up to cup the back of his head. "She seems like someone with balls. Like Dani did."

"You don't know her story?" he asks, his hand sliding down her side to rest on her hip.

Turning to the side, her legs dangle off his thighs, and she looks into his eyes. "No. What's her story? Daughter or something?"

"VP's daughter. Colt's the Sergeant at Arms’ oldest. They went through a lot of shit, but she's had a tough life. I don't know all the details, but her brother's an asshat. Which was very obvious after meeting him. After three seconds, I knew it was true."

"What's his deal?"

He shrugs. "Something about hating her deep down, but he tries to hide it around others. Dad fucked around with Lex's mom, which is how she came about. I think his mom died of cancer or something. And you know club men. Can't hate their fathers, so they take their rage out on everyone else."

"Poor girl," she says.

"Yeah, she left when she was a teen, but she came back. I talked to some guy out there named Rocco, and he doesn't like her much, either. But he's a total tool. Said she came back when she ran away from a mobster ex who beat the shit out of her. I think he said she also took on a car to save her sister-in-law and got herself kidnapped by a rival club. Her plan, but she took a hell of a beating. She was kidnapped recently and tortured for information like six months ago or something. Fucking Savage Slashers."

Her stomach sinks. "She's still here? Most women would've fucking bolted."
