Max kisses her as his hands caress her, slowly sliding down her body to settle between her legs. "What a coincidence. I feel the same about yours. I want to grip onto it all night long."
Daphne gasps as his fingers make quick work bringing her to her climax again, and her body shakes as she stares into his eyes. "Oh, Max."
"I fucking love hearing my name on your lips," he murmurs, his eyes focusing down to her mouth. "Especially when you come."
Her hand stills his, and her body jerks. "I have a feeling I'm going to moan your name a lot."
"As often as you'll let me," he whispers. "But I want more than just sex with you, Daph. I want it all. The good, the bad, the ugly. I want to be the person you come to when you're upset, and I want to celebrate your victories. The person you talk to when you need to solve problems, and my salvation when things get tough."
She smiles and cups his face. "Who knew a biker could be so poetic? That's exactly what I want, too. I want more than a lover. I want a best friend, and I firmly believe that finding those two things in one person is destiny."
"I plan to be your destiny, baby. And anything you need, I want to give it to you. There's nothing I won't do for you."
"You have no idea how sexy you are when you say things like that, do you?"
Before Max can respond, her lips claim his, biting his lower lip gently. She reaches between them to stroke him, bringing him to the brink like did her, damn near as quickly. He never imaginedhis dreams could come true, but damn if the universe didn't perfectly align for him. If he died right now, he'd die one of the happiest men in the world.
Chapter Twenty-Six
Summerville
Bodie
Bodie sits in Jolie's living room, and he's all but moved into her apartment with her. He wonders if they'll make this situation between them official soon because he's falling hard for the brunette, but he's letting her set the pace. She's the skittish one.
His stuff has slowly begun moving from Colt and Lex's house, but he does spend a night or two there a week to spend time with Noah. He misses having his buddy there with him all day, and he still can't help but wonder what it means that his best friend is an eight-year-old kid.
"Why the fuck am I friends with a kid, especially one who's under fifteen?" he asks himself as he flips mindlessly throughthe channels until he finds a cartoon Noah loves. "Oh, yeah, because he's fucking awesome."
Jolie walks into the apartment, sobbing, and Bodie immediately jumps up. She looks startled to see him, and she just says, "Oh, you're here."
They had plans tonight, so he's not sure why she's shocked. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
Tilting his head, he walks over and grabs her shoulders, his fingers squeezing lightly. "What'd we talk about?"
"We can't say nothing when there's something," she repeats with an exasperated sigh. "Do you really want to hear this?"
The tears keep flowing, and his heart breaks. And for some reason, he feels an overwhelming amount of guilt. "If you're this upset, of course I want to hear it."
Sniffling, she wipes her eyes, her mascara streaming down her cheeks, and she hugs him tightly. "It's about Justin."
This damn man will never leave them alone. "What about him?"
"I found some things out," she says, releasing him and walking into the kitchen to grab a bottle of wine. Just like Lex does. Next comes the glass, followed by the familiar popping of the cork.
"What happened?"
Taking a long drink from the glass, she lets out a sigh. "Things have been going really well with us. You and me, I mean. You're basically living here, we're having incredible sex, and I really, really like you."
"I hope that's not the problem," he says, trying to piece together what she's saying. "Because nothing about that sounds like a problem unless you're sick of me being here. The sex, well, I refuse to make it mediocre for you."
"It's what caused the problem. Well, I guess, it's what caused me to find the problem. And no mediocre sex. Ever."
He sits at the table in front of her, and he's smirking at the sex comment. "Baby, I'm not following. So far, this all sounds good."
"It is. Because things have been going so well, I thought it was time to go through Justin's things I've kept in storage from our old place together. Get rid of most of it, but also keep what I still feel tied to. In a way, it was a reminder of how what he and I had was special even though what you and I have is also special. Kind of a goodbye, if you will."
