“You know damn well I can take care of myself. Why do I have to have people …” she snaps her head in Hawk’s direction. “Watching my every move and reporting back to Uncle Mack about it? I’m moving home, for shit’s sake!”

“Easy,” Gabe chides. “Remember who you’re talking to, girl.”

Sadie’s quick to apologize. “Sorry, I mean no disrespect. I just want to live my own life. I’m not in school anymore and I live down the road. Do you really need to have trackers onallmy things?”

“That’s a conversation you’ll need to have with Mack. Those were his stipulations when you moved to Baron’s Edge.” Gabe lifts his hands.

“But I’m not in Baron’s Edge anymore,” Sadie huffs. Gabe doesn’t budge on the subject, and by the look of defeat on Sadie’s face, she knows it. “Is that all? Can I go now?”

“Yeah, sweetheart. You can go. But keep your phone on you.” He pulls her cell phone from his back pocket and hands it to her, then hugs her tight. He whispers, but I’m close enough I hear his words. “Quit trying to give Hawk a heart attack and get my prospects killed, yeah?”

She pulls back, placing the phone in her back pocket, smiling softly at him. “No promises.” Gabe chuckles, giving her one last kiss to the head.

Sadie runs to the bar, squatting down. “Where are my keys?”

“I put them on top of your bag,” I respond. We watch as she pulls out another phone from her bag and begins shooting off a text. She doesn’t even look up from her phone as she walks out the front door.

“Is that another phone?” Hawk whispers next to me. We both watch as she moves to the front door and spot the phone Gabe just handed her still firmly seated in her back pocket. “Son of a bitch.”

Skyler must hear us, her devilish smirk giving away to her pride. “Wait up, Sadie. I’ll head out with you,” Skyler calls out.

“Where are you ladies off to?” I have to smile at Ethan’s gruff tone. He really doesn’t like Skyler to be out of his sight for long. Skyler looks to Sadie for the answer.

“I need to run some errands, pick a few things up, and head to the mall,” Sadie provides.

Ethan drops a hard kiss on Skyler’s lips. It’s enough to get the guys in the room calling out and whistling at his antics. When he breaks the kiss, he leans into Skyler’s ear and says something to her, making her cheeks turn a bright shade of pink. She gives him a subtle nod, then leaves out the door with Sadie.

“Brother, you are pussy whipped,” Hawk teases Ethan.

“Maybe so, but you won’t hear me complaining.” Ethan smiles.

“Church in ten minutes,” Gabe bellows. “Mack has something he needs to talk to us about. Hawk,” Gabe calls. Hawk is busy tapping away at something on his own phone screen. I’d bet money he’s trying to see if he can get a track on the second phone she had on her.

“Sadie may or may not be in danger.” Both our heads snap in Gabe’s direction, ice running through my veins at his words. Gabe continues, “I don’t have the full story yet, but until we have answers, I need to know where she is at all times.” His brow creases as he glares at Hawk, still fucking with his phone.

“I’m on it, Pres.”

“Just be more discreet about it and save us both from her wrath, yeah?”

“You want a prospect on her?” I conclude. Pres nods. “Gotcha. Blake!”

Blake pops out from behind the bar and jogs to where we’re standing. “Tail her, but don’t let her see you. Take a cage.”

“On it, Pres.” Blake’s headed for the door, snagging a set of keys from behind the bar on his way out.

“Now, for the rest of you assholes, we have church,” Gabe shouts, and we all file after him.

CHAPTER SEVEN

AVERY

I'm sittingin the chair, getting my hair blow dried when my phone vibrates in my pocket. I don't have to check, since Sadie's the only one who has this number. I motion to Everly, my stylist, to give me a minute. She turns the dryer off and gives me a look that says I better be quick. The waiting area is starting to get busy.

“I'll be just a second. Promise.” Everly steps back to let another customer know she'll be five more minutes with me as I answer my phone, foregoing all pleasantries. “Where the hell are you?”

“We’re on our way.”

“We?”
