Sophia
Iskipped my classes yesterday and we took the ferry over to Seattle where we spent the day at Pike Place Market. I’ve gone a few times as a kid but going with Ryan and Javier was an experience. It was fun to just get out and be the three of us, no rules, no expectations. We started our morning getting coffee and donuts, then walked around looking in all the shops. We did a little shopping then we had lunch. By the time we got on the ferry at the end of the day, I was exhausted, but happier than I’ve ever been. When we got home, I took a much-needed nap, and woke up to find that Javier cooked shrimp fettuccine alfredo for dinner, using the shrimp we had got from the fish market. We ended the night much like we had the night before, kissing and touching in my bed.
Sadly, this morning we had to get back to the real world. I went to my classes like normal and they went back to their office. When I got home the house was silent, which is normal for during the week. It is weird being home without them, but it’s giving me time to think about what is going on with Ryan and Javier. We haven’t talked about what I am to them, but I’m hoping to talk to them tonight. I set about making dinner, one that we all love, my stuffed spinach and artichoke chicken with roasted potatoes and a salad.
I’ve just finished setting the table when my text tone rings.
Javier: We had an emergency come up at work. Can’t talk but we will call you when we can. We’ll be back tomorrow.
Me: Okay. Be safe. I’ll see you tomorrow.
Ishouldn’t be surprised, but I am. It sucks that they are gone, again. I pick up the plates and silverware, then finish clearing the table. Is this what it will be like if we are together? Are we together? Sure, they’ve said how much they’ve wanted me, and we’ve kissed, a lot. But what now? I’ve always loved the idea of being with them, but what will that really be like? Will they share my bed and leave at the drop of a hat? I can’t imagine building a life like that.
I stare at the food that Is waiting to be put into dishes and consider calling Tessa over, but decide against it. Even her bubbly personality won’t help me get over this funk I’m in.
I make Jon a plate and walk outside to where he’s standing on the front porch. When the guys are gone, he’s on twenty-four-hour duty until they are home again.
“Jon, here you go,” I say handing over the plate of food.
Jon looks from the plate to me and smiles at me warmly. “Thank you, Sophia.” He takes the plate and gives me a knowing but sad smile.
“You’re welcome.”
I walk back inside to put all of the food into Tupperware containers and clean the kitchen up. Jon has done this hundreds of times. He’ll eventually come inside to keep watch but tries to leave me be and act like he’s not here. When I’m finished cleaning the kitchen, I go upstairs without eating anything. I’m not hungry anyway. I check my phone a dozen times hoping to hear from the guys, but they never call or text. I fall asleep holding my phone.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
My eyes fly open. Was that the door?
I get out of bed and go to my window and look out to see a flower truck parked in my driveway. A smile covers my face and I run downstairs to find Jon standing at the door holding a beautiful glass vase with a bunch of long-stemmed roses.
“For you.” Jon hands the vase of flowers over to me.
When I take them from him, I lift the flowers to my nose and inhale their sweet scent. I bring the flowers into the kitchen and set them down on the counter, plucking the card from its holder.
Happy Valentine’s Day Sophia! When we get home, we’ll celebrate properly. Until then, Jon has instructions to take you somewhere special. This is just the beginning!
- Ryan and Javier
I’d prefer to have them here, but their thoughtfulness isn’t wasted on me. What girl wouldn’t want dozens of roses delivered to them with a promise of more? I walk out to where Jon is standing, looking out the living room window.
“What time do we leave?”
“Thirty minutes.”
“Perfect. That’s all the time I need. Are you going to tell me where we’re going?”
Jon smirks. “I was told it was a surprise.”
“Pfft.” I roll my eyes and walk upstairs to get ready.

Ryan and Javier planned an entire day at the spa for me. When I got there, Tessa was waiting for me with two large cups of hazelnut coffee. We were whisked into a room where we had full-body massages and facials. After that we had manis and pedis. Lunch from my favorite restaurant was brought in for us and that’s when I finally told Tessa what was going on with the guys. She was so excited for me. Even though I had never told her about my feelings for the guys, she acted as if she already knew.
We finished our day getting our hair and makeup done. Tessa told me not to worry about the guys and that everything would work out. I guess I’m not as optimistic as her. As I leave the spa and hug Tessa goodbye, I get into the backseat of my car since Jon is driving and check my phone for the millionth time today. I still haven’t heard from the guys and it’s driving me crazy wondering where they are and what they’re doing.
“Have you heard anything Jon?”
