Epilogue One

Sophia

Last night was far beyond what I ever thought possible. They gave me so much and I only hope to give them back a fraction of the happiness they’ve given me.

I’m lying in bed between my fiancés after making love for the first time this morning. I’m breathing heavily and still awestruck over how my life has changed in the matter of a couple of days.

“Sophia, there’s something we need to tell you,” Javier says looking down at me.

The way he’s looking at me, tells me something isn’t right. “What’s wrong?”

Javier looks at Ryan and then looks back at me. I sit up against the headboard, covering my body with the sheet and wait for them to tell me. My heart is beating fast and I’m waiting for the world to drop. “What is it?” I ask in total freak out mode.

“It’s about our last mission.”

“Your mission? What about your mission? You never talk about work.”

Ryan grabs my hand, lacing his fingers with mine. “It’s about your brother.”

I quirk my head to the side. “Huh? What about Mike? What are you talking about?”

Javier sighs and holds my other hand. “We found out through intel that your brother didn’t die overseas.”

“He didn’t?”

“No baby. He was held prisoner for the first few years, but he broke out. He’s been trying to get back home, but it hasn’t been easy, especially since he was pronounced dead.”

“Then who the fuck did we bury and where the hell is my brother now?”

“He’s home, love. We brought him home.”
