“You won’t be needing alcohol,” he said before giving me a smoky stare. “I’ll want you to remember every part of the night.” Josh closed the distance between us again, then leaned forward towards me and added in a barely audible voice that sounded so silky and smooth. “Especially when I make love to you in the back seat of my car.”

A shiver raced up my spine and just like that my anticipation slowly began to build. “I look forward to it,” I answered just after his lips brushed over the side of my neck.

He retreated again and flashed me a smile. “It’s a date.” He gave me his famous seductive wink, then hurried away from the front porch and headed to his car.

After he drove off, I sighed, then sat on the front porch and folded my legs in front of me so I could watch the beautiful night.

My mind was drifting into places I’d rather not let them go, and it dawned on me that Allison had been right during our previous chat. I was falling in love with Josh and letting my heart feel things it shouldn’t.

Nothing mattered when I thought about him, and Josh too couldn’t deny that there was more to our chemistry than just the physical. I could see it in his eyes and feel it in his touch.

We had a baby connecting us now, and I didn’t want it to be just that. I had feelings for Josh, and I had to tell him. I hoped he wasn’t too scared and scarred from his past to realize we could make this into something more.

Something magical, like love.

JOSH

Ihad a romantic setting in mind. One where we could enjoy the subtle evening breeze and watch the stars together. Bree looked stunning as always in the navy blue dress she wore. She stood on her dad’s front porch for a second, then walked slowly towards my car parked on the other side of the road.

I got out before she got to me, strode towards her, then extended a hand.

“You look amazing, Bree,” I told her in a light voice as she put her hand in mine. She had asked me not to get out of the car because her father and Allison were inside, but I just couldn’t stop myself.

She deserved a queen’s treatment, and I wanted to give her that tonight.

“You look… dashing,” she complimented too before she smiled.

“I would have gone for ravishing but dashing works too.”

Bree’s eyes sparkled as she smiled, and I caressed the front of her palm in mine gently before leading her to the car. I held the front passenger’s side door open for her to enter, then closed it once she settled in.

When I took my spot behind the wheel and locked the door, I leaned closer to her for a kiss and took my time to savor the taste of her tongue and lush lips before pulling back.

“Where are we going tonight?” she asked as I ignited the engine and propelled the gear forward.

“It’s a surprise,” I told her. “I plan to blow your mind.”

“Be careful, my mind isn’t easily blown,” she replied but chuckled a little and put a hand on her cheek.

“How have you been feeling?”

“It’s been a rough couple of days. Her right hand moved to her abdomen, and I watched her caress it for a bit. I’m scheduling an appointment for an ultrasound next week. I’ve been putting it off because I’m a little scared, but I think I’m ready now. I want to know how far along I am.”

I reached out and put a hand over hers so I could feel her stomach too. “Just let me know the time and date. I’ll be there.”

When we arrived at the rooftop restaurant I made reservations at, a host showed us to our table, and I held out a seat for Bree first before taking mine. She placed her order, and I watched her select her choice of non-alcoholic wine before looking at me.

“I haven’t been here before,” she said as she looked around. I took my time to admire her beauty. The blue dress hugged her body perfectly and outlined her shape. I loved the show of skin on her shoulders too. It wasn’t too much. It was just the right amount to keep me glancing below her neckline at intervals.

Does she even know what she does to me?

“Recently, I find myself staring into the mirror, trying to see if I look different,” she said after our wine arrived and the host who took our orders set it in ice before leaving with his tray. “It’s like I’m obsessed with it.”

“You’re looking forward to the changes already?’

“They are bound to come anyway, so I’m trying to prepare my mind for it. Besides, I still need to tell my dad.”
