Angie stopped me by putting her hand on my chest. Looking up, she batted her fake lashes and smiled, revealing redlipstick painted on her front teeth. Looking at her now, I wasn’t sure what I had seen in her that made me attracted enough to sleep with her the few times I had.
She had on too much makeup, not the natural look Ivy had. Her floral perfume was strong and overbearing, not like the vanilla and lavender scent that Ivy wore, and made me feel calm. Even her voice was irritating me. It was high-pitched and loud, not soft and delicate like Ivy’s.
“Axel went out to get more beer, Storm is on a security drive, and Jagger is around here somewhere with that new redhead that works at the bar,” Angie said, still eyeing me like I was a piece of candy she wanted to taste. “But, I’m here if you want to have some fun,” she finished.
Storm had earned his way into the clubhouse when he helped Blaze out with a shitty situation not long ago. He became , Blaze’s girlfriend, bodyguard. It’s a long story, but thankfully, everything worked out. Jagger had proven to be loyal so we had trusted him, too.
I was pretty sure Angie had slept with most of the bikers around here, married or not married, it didn’t seem to matter to her. Suddenly, that thought made her even more disgusting to me.
I took a step back away from her and bumped into the corner wall connecting my living room to the kitchen. “Look, Angie, we had our fun, but it’s over now.”
Almost laughing, Angie gave me a sneer. “Are you serious? Is this about that girl you were talking to the other night at the clubhouse?” she asked, putting her hands on her hips like an infuriated toddler.
“Her name is Ivy, and yes. This has everything to do with her. I think we have something. I’m going to try to see where it goes,” I said.
I knew better than to say too much to Angie, she was a loudmouth who loved to gossip to whoever would listen to her.
“I can’t believe I am hearing this. Axel Raven, getting serious over a girl. Well, I guess she must be special,” she snapped.
Even though Angie was trying to push my buttons and get a reaction out of me, she was right. Ivy was special.
“Yes Angie, Ivy is special. Now, get out of my way so I can go lock myself into my room.”
I raced upstairs and did just as I told Angie I would. I locked the door behind me and put on my headphones and let my music drown out the world around me. Kicking off my boots, I lay in bed with my shirt and jeans still on. I still smelled like Ivy and I wanted to go to bed thinking about her.
I knew Angie and the other girls at this party well enough to know that if my door wasn’t locked, they would try to get in. I had woken up on numerous occasions to find one, two, and even three girls in my bed with me. Back then, it was like winning the lottery, now it would be the worst thing that could happen.
I needed Ivy to know she could trust me. And, I would do anything it takes to have her heart.
Chapter 12
Ivy
I snuggled further inside my blankets, as my body grew warm thinking about Axel’s firm arms as they fit around me perfectly. My stomach ached as I remembered his breaths warming my skin and how his black as night curly hair had bounced when he laughed at my frantic reactions to the horror movie we had been watching. Everything about that night had been perfect.
Just as I began to imagine what it would be like for Axel to kiss me again, towrap his arms around me and pull me into him, cradle me, and begin kissing down my neck and to my…
My phone chimed, notifying me of a text. Frustrated, I shook my head, trying to remove the images I had been creatingand re-creating over and over again in my mind. Images and thoughts I should not be having about Axel.
Axel: Hey, do you have plans today?
Me: Nope. I don’t ever do anything on Sunday
Axel: Well you do now. Get dressed, I will be there in an hour.
Me: Where are we going?
Axel: It’s a surprise.
Me: I hate surprises
Axel: I know. See you in an hour
I really did hate surprises. Stretching, I stood and began preparing myself for whatever Axel had planned. I showered then dressed in a cute pair of jeans and a flowing emerald green shirt that always made my eyes shine in contrast with my hair. I took a few extra minutes to curl my hair, using my fingers to brush the ringlets out so that I created a beachy, wavy look. I remember Axel saying he liked it when I wore my hair that way. No big deal I guess, I just want to look good.
As I finished tidying around the apartment, I heard Axel’s loud knock as he announced his arrival. When I opened the door, Axel slowly scanned my body, all the way from my head to my toes. His smile grew wider the farther down he went, which made me blush under his stare. Taking a moment, I admired Axel’s loose-fitting jeans and a tight-fitting charcoal gray tee shirt. Everything he wore seemed to hug his form in all the right places.
“Wow, you look great,” Axel stated, as he continued to smile.
