Oh, no. Not this again. I don’t need any more visions of Nevada’s mom and Priest’s dad going at it.Gross.

“You’ve made your point,” I bark. “Just remember she’s a club sister, and that means she’s off limits.”

“You’re so embarrassing!” Lace hits me again.

Manny laughs, saluting. “Yes, sir. Now, Lace, would you like to come and stuff my pastry?”

“I believe I would.”

I open my mouth and close it again as they both laugh and disappear into the kitchen.

I lean my forehead on the door and bang against it.

I haven't beenable to stop staring at Cookie. He’s just so sweet. Before Riot had to dash off to the clubhouse, we settled him in and he flopped down on the large fluffy dog bed and fell asleep. He’s been there ever since. The effects of the anesthetic are still wearing off, and he’s not been interested in food, but he has had some water. I’ve surrounded him with his new toys, and right now, he’s using the giant octopus as a pillow. I feel kinda smug and snap a shot to send to Riot.

Me:

Look how sweet he is

A few moments later, the gray bubble appears and he’s typing back.

Riot:

I see you were right about that giant creepy squid

Me:

He’s not creepy, and it’s an octopus

Riot:

How’s he been?

Me:

Perfect. He’s been sunning himself in his bed

Riot:

Have you even left his side?

I try not to laugh. This man knows me already.

Me:

Well, I did go to move away, but then he turned over and whimpered, so I came running back

Riot:

I’m pretty sure you’re good to let him sleep
