Page 14 of Her Desire

Grabbing her, I pulled Ava into my arms. I can’t help myself as my lips come crashing down on hers. Our kiss is passionate and heated.

“Let’s do this!” I exclaim.

For the first time in my life, I feel something strong and powerful inside of me. I feel hope that maybe, just maybe, I will be able to have the happily ever after I’ve yearned for all of my life.

Chapter 8

Sam

"Can you believe we're doing this?" Ava's voice is tinged with wonder, her fingers squeezing mine gently. My private jet coasted along the runway as we made our way home.

After Ava had agreed to come to Miami with me, we decided to give it one more day before we told Lydia and Tyler our plans. To say they were shocked would be an understatement. They sensed something going on between us, but neither of them had been prepared for the bomb we dropped on them.

However, when Ava told them she was moving to Miami to be with me, they were astounded, but also supportive. Lydia knows the struggles that Ava has gone through with her breakup, and she’s being an incredible friend to her. And Ava has always supported me, so I never expected anything different from her.

"I... I don't think it's fully sunk in yet." My words come out in a breathy laugh, disbelief still lacing my tone despite the incredible sensation of her skin against mine.

“What will it be like?” she asks, all giddy.

“My penthouse is on the top floor of my downtown Miami building. We will have access to anything you will ever need. While I’m at work, you can work, shop, or do anything you want. I meant it when I said that I would take care of you. If you don’t want to work, you can quit your job,” I tell her.

I don’t want this woman to worry about anything other than being happy. And, pleasing me.

Ava stared out the window. “I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I didn’t work.”

“I can think of some things to keep you busy,” I said, winking.

She giggled, which was quickly becoming the best sound in the world to me.

Once we landed, I had my driver meet us on the tarmac. Ava seemed to be in a constant state of excitement as we departed the plane and headed to the black SUV.

“I can’t believe this is real life,” she mused as we loaded into the fully loaded vehicle.

“I told you, I have a lot of money, and I will give you the world you deserve,” I reminded her.

As the vehicle began to drive, I took Ava’s hand in mine. She turned to face me. “Sam, I don’t need money to be happy. I just need real love and a genuine connection. Someone I can trust.”

Squeezing her hand, I offered her the support that she needed. “We have an undeniable connection. And I know that you can trust me. This is your new life now; just enjoy it.”

She smiled and sat back, relaxing through the drive. Ava’s eyes were glued to Miami as we drove. She raved about the lavish vehicles, colorful buildings, and eccentric shops showcasing the heart of Miami.

Finally, we pulled up to my building, and my driver, Roger, helped us out of the SUV. Ava’s face showed pure disbelief as she stared at the large structure.

“This is where you live?” she exclaimed.

“Yes, wait until you see the inside,” I said, winking.

The doorman let us in, and then we loaded onto the private elevator that would take us up to my penthouse. Our luggage would be brought up through the back service entrance later.

When the doors opened, Ava walked into my home, and all she could do was smile in wonderment. I had paid an interior designer to decorate the house, and while it was cozy in certain aspects, it was missing a personal touch. Maybe Ava could add that much-needed love.

The black leather furniture in the sunken living room sat around a large television set. Beautiful paintings of the colorful Miami skyline were housed on my white walls. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in light that made the space feel larger than it really was.

My office was to the right and had an incredible view of the ocean.

“I have a few things to do, but I want you to make this place your home. Explore the rooms. If you want to go shopping or do anything, just let me know,” I tell her.

Ava smiles as she moves toward me. “This is more than I ever dreamed. Your life is like something out of a novel,” she sighs.
